I was really surprised not to see Cody Hawkins on the list.
I realize Ryan Miller is an incredibly prized recruit and a 5 star, deservingly so. But i still have to ask, do y'all think he could start at O-Line in the Big 12 as a true Freshman? That's a position where you really have to be physically developed, I just don't know. I think Cody will have a bigger impact than Ryan, but that's just my opinion. I believe that having an actual QB under centre will give you Buffs at least 5 more wins than last, if not more.

Ryan Miller is a man-mountain. Physicality won't be his problem. He will have to adjust to the speed of the game as he's been a man among boys up until this point.
It isn't known for sure that Cody will be the starting QB, so I can understand why he would be left off that list. Whoever is the starting QB will need to have Mr. Miller develop fast because, yes, all of us expect Ryan Miller to start day 1 against CSU.

If PT Gates gets in to CU, and thats a BIG IF, WATCH OUT! From what I have heard from his HS, JC, and CU coaches, he is a combination of Reggie Bush and Eric Bieniemy. The guy was the #1 JC RB last year.
We just have to hope he gets in, if he does, he could do huge things right away.

Let's not kid ourselves. Cody is your starter.

I think you're probably right. But if the coaches are not saying he's the starter, then why would this article make the assumption?

I think Cody, Gates (as long as he gets in) and a Celestine and/or Simas will be the biggest new contributors. Miller, while he will hopefully turn into what we all believe he can/will be, just won't be ready this season, IMO, especially at tackle. Offensive linemen rarely are.

the last true freshman that i can remember starting on the OL at CU was Clint Moore in the '91 season i believe.
i played with him at Longmont HS. i think he started at guard...
personally, i will be suprised if RM is ready to go day one as well.

I think Ryan Miller Starts for CU this season...a big reason is that CU is so thin in the line. Part of it will be the health of Harrison and Polumbus.
I am not convinced that Cody Hawkins will be the starter...the staff would really like Nelson to step up, his size and mobility give him some marks in the plus column...whomever the QB is will be more successful if the running game is more of a threat than last year. I agree that Gates could be the biggest impact player if he gets in.

could miller start at guard and move over once he is better adjusted?

Yep, he did, but not at tackle.

He might be too big to be a guard, with needing passing lanes and all that...

Especially if CHawk is the starter.

I don't care who is back there. Miller is a mountain of a man. Nobody's seeing over him to pass.

CHawk is really not that small. I met him at the spring game and he was about an inch if not more taller than me. I am a legit 5'11

how many linemen are returning from last year?

7 return from last years team. But Palazzi, Stevens and Faatagi (JuCO) all redshirted last year...CU is alarmingly thin at OL.
....as for top newcomers on the D side of the ball, I think Hudgins, Perri and Obi will all make a difference at the DE spot (Hopefully Mo Lucas will emerge as well) providing quality depth to go with Hypo and Nicholas on the inside.
and it wouldnt suprise me if Jalil Brown (RsFr) locked down the CB spot opposite Wheatley.

well, with only 7 returning and 4 having played before, i'd say his chances of starting are looking pretty good.
lets hope he's a quick learner
