The NCAA goes after players for accepting ham sandwiches, and teams that show a little compassion for their walk ons.....not teams that give away free Lexus' (until caught), and thousands of dollars in free work. And definitely those that allow agents to represent a certain player while still in college, or get his family into a house they in no way can afford.

How much was Reggie Bush's parent's house in San Diego worth? Didn't several USC players live in a house owned by Matt Leinart at no charge? How much money did those guys at OU make for not working at an auto dealer? And we get nailed for undercharging lunches. Which we self reported BTW. And the NCAA calls it a "major" violation? It just seems as if the NCAA is out to get CU for some reason. Almost as if they think we got away with something during the "scandal", so they are going to make us pay. Third, it sounds like it was across the athletic department board, not just football. It included women's soccer, tennis, men's basketball, etc. This is not a big deal, IMO. I wonder how many schools that do the same thing keep their ****ing mouths shut?

I suppose because, first, they knew that doing it to their football team would hold more weight with Big Brother than, say, the tennis team. Second, football has enough scholarships that they could absorb the loss better than the other sports. Remember, except for basketball, most other sports only give out 1/4 or 1/2 scholarships. So the loss of a scholly could effect 2 to 4 kids instead of one. Personally, I don't see what CU got themselves by self imposing the scholarship thing. The NCAA ****ed them anyway.

Personally, I think that by self imposing recruiting sanctions on ourselves, we make it look worse than it really is. Because the morons in the paper and on TV say "CU footall lost one scholarship per year for three years" and don't expain the "self imposed" part. It makes it look like we got slapped harder than we really did.

OK oh King of Smug! Why don't you take a look at penalties from past infractions at other institutions and try and see if "Major Violation" rings true with this situation. Nobody has said there were not infractions. We self reported on the issue that would never have even been discovered. You are talking about $2.00 per meal for walk on athletes. Do you want to even discuss the value of violations at other schools that have gone unpunished.

this I agree with, IF the NCAA gives the same "slap on the wrist" to SC or OU for far greater violations then CU has every right to bitch. I really dont see this as that big a deal, no TV appearance reductions, no bowl implications... getting 100K worth of exposure, feeding walk-ons, most fans will see this as a non-story.
