Yes. CU got one scholly taken away for the next three years, a $100k fine and probation for undercharging student athletes for meals.
:gun: NCAA :pissed3:
OU practically gives away cars and has players clocking in at a local auto dealership while they go to practice, anybody wanna bet the Okies get off lighter than CU. The NCAA stinks.:moon:

This is bullshit! The NCAA goes after players for accepting ham sandwiches, and teams that show a little compassion for their walk ons.....not teams that give away free Lexus' (until caught), and thousands of dollars in free work. And definitely those that allow agents to represent a certain player while still in college, or get his family into a house they in no way can afford.

so there was $61K for 133 walk-ons (during the course of 6 years)
Taht is $458.65 per walk-on, per year; or $1.26 per day.
Basically a cup of coffee...:finger2::pissed3::gun:NCAA
How much was Reggie Bush's parent's house in San Diego worth? Didn't several USC players live in a house owned by Matt Leinart at no charge? How much money did those guys at OU make for not working at an auto dealer? And we get nailed for undercharging lunches. Which we self reported BTW. And the NCAA calls it a "major" violation? It just seems as if the NCAA is out to get CU for some reason. Almost as if they think we got away with something during the "scandal", so they are going to make us pay. I hate the NCAA with a passion. Their is such a double standard our there that it toally just makes you want to put your fist through a wall.

The institution, NCAA enforcement staff, and the infractions committee all found that the violations were inadvertent and discovered by the university's athletic staff, who promptly reported them to the NCAA. While the committee also emphasized in its report that the violations were "limited in nature and narrow in scope," they did constitute major violations due to the amount of extra benefits involved. The Committee on Infractions found the impermissible benefits for walk-on student-athletes occurred during the 2000-01 through 2005-06 academic years.
****....who was our AD during that time? they should have been picking this up...
:sad2:
While the violations amounted to an extra benefit of $61,700, the committee felt the $100,000 sanction was more appropriate since the violations took place over six academic years and involved 133 student-athletes in six sports.
as opposed to a few athletes over a couple years receiving an extra benefit of...tens of thousands of dollars...
:sad2:
First, the ncaa did not impose scholarship sanctions on CU. CU self imposed them. :sad2: Second, Ceal Berry discovered the "problem" in 2005. So Hawk had nothing to do with it. Third, it sounds like it was across the athletic department board, not just football. It included women's soccer, tennis, men's basketball, etc. This is not a big deal, IMO. I wonder how many schools that do the same thing keep their ****ing mouths shut?

So if that is true, why is it only football scholarships being affected?

I suppose because, first, they knew that doing it to their football team would hold more weight with Big Brother than, say, the tennis team. Second, football has enough scholarships that they could absorb the loss better than the other sports. Remember, except for basketball, most other sports only give out 1/4 or 1/2 scholarships. So the loss of a scholly could effect 2 to 4 kids instead of one. Personally, I don't see what CU got themselves by self imposing the scholarship thing. The NCAA ****ed them anyway.

This has to be the biggest ****ing joke I have every seen.. We lose scholarships for this ****? **** that..
And how the **** is the AD at the University of Miami the acting chair of the NCAA Division I Committee on infractions? Why don't they make Barry Switzer head of the NCAA too..

Well, to be 'fair' to the NCAA (and I do not like doing so), it took them two years to finally make this ruling, so we still have a ways to wait on OUsucks and SC.
Personally, I think that by self imposing recruiting sanctions on ourselves, we make it look worse than it really is. Because the morons in the paper and on TV say "CU footall lost one scholarship per year for three years" and don't expain the "self imposed" part. It makes it look like we got slapped harder than we really did.
Kudos to Vic Lombardi for calling this what it is. A joke.

The lesson the NCAA is teaching with this: Its only cheating if you get caught. And even then its only considered cheating if you can't affort good enough lawyers. And even then only if you aren't a regular BCS Title Contender.
So, it sounds like they were charging the kids for the meals, but were not charging them quite enough. You know what, I think this makes the NCAA look bad to people outside the program.

dont do the crime if you cant do the time... dont do it!

this is a non-story, 1 scholie and 100k, it was just your turn to pay homage to the NCAA godfather. every school has done something and to be honest CU has dodged a couple bullets recently, this was bound to happen.

OK oh King of Smug! Why don't you take a look at penalties from past infractions at other institutions and try and see if "Major Violation" rings true with this situation. Nobody has said there were not infractions. We self reported on the issue that would never have even been discovered. You are talking about $2.00 per meal for walk on athletes. Do you want to even discuss the value of violations at other schools that have gone unpunished.
I still say **** you on this one. Nothing smug about that.

It's not just one scholarship, it's three. It's a reduction to 24 scholarships a year for three years. Will it make a difference? Hard to tell. In some years we don't have 24 scholarships to give anyway, so it will have no impact at all.
I also will be very, very interested to see what comes of the OU deal. I mean ****, if undercharging walk-on players a couple bucks per meal is worth this, what is having a couple players get paid for doing no work at all? :wow:
Or what of the Reggie Bush deal? Holy ****, the guy's agent bought him a ****ing house for God's sake. On the scale of "Big deals", that pretty well dwarfs what happened here.
If the NCAA doesn't come down like a ton of ****ing bricks on those two deals, it will only serve to prove that they are nothing more than a lackey to the big programs.

this I agree with, IF the NCAA gives the same "slap on the wrist" to SC or OU for far greater violations then CU has every right to bitch. I really dont see this as that big a deal, no TV appearance reductions, no bowl implications... getting 100K worth of exposure, feeding walk-ons, most fans will see this as a non-story.
