Recruiting slow?

Is it just me, or does recruiting seem slow to anyone else?

The early period for signing National Letters of Intent for MBB is November 11th through November 18th. For basketball, most guys sign during the early period. We've got a month of "Quiet Period" starting now followed by only 2 months of real recruiting.

I'm very disappointed in where we are so far with so few offers out and no one saying we're in the lead. Did we get anything accomplished in July when all the AAU and camp events were going on?

It's really hard to tell with the lack of info we get on the BB program. I don't think Rivals or Scout give a **** about the programs.

Another thing is we only have 2 scholarships left. Maybe Bzdelik is waiting for a decent season to help out recruiting.

High risk, high reward. I know all this NBA speculation coupled with his best recruiter leaving for USC hasn't helped provide any stability.

The top 3 things that would attract anyone to this program as it is would be:

1. Location (Wanting to stay close to home or being raised a CU fan, also Boulder's attractiveness for an out of state kid)

2. Chance to stick out as a man among boys, much as Craig Brackins has done at ISU

3. Potential for the program to be on its way up from the cellar (And by far the hardest thing to sell a recruit on IMO)

I would hope that Bz isn't "waiting", because in bball, most recruits are committed much before signing day. Sure, there are many kids that are available up till early signing period, and some even after - but most are taken. A good season would help for the 2011 class, but not this one.

The coaching staff has to be working the recruiting trail hard, but Scout/Rivals typically just follow the top 150 or so kids in the nation. The top schools get most of the coverage, and I don't see CU getting a whole lot of news unless we actually get a commitment.

Also, I think most of the summer tournaments are done, so from here until early signing period, there will probably only be news of actual visits and commits - sort of a slow period in terms of news.

I hope we can get either Mays or Kirk. But that's not looking too good at the moment.
