For anyone going to the CU/UT game in Austin, is anyone tailgaiting pre-game other than with the official Buff Alumni Club? (I find that one to be a bit too tame...)

I'll be going with 2 other CU alumns and would like to meet up with some other Buff fans.

I'm new to these forums, are there any Buff alumns in South Florida??

FlaBuff is in Orlando. Not exactly South Florida, but a lot closer than any of the rest of us. Miami Buff lives in Longmont. Key West Buph doesn't live in Key West, either. I was shocked to learn that.

Daggum Florida posers...Purify, great name btw, I'm outside Orlando. There were a fair amount of Florida Buffs at the Miami game, and quite a crowd last year for FSU in JAX. I even see a couple of window stickers and licence plates here in South Lake County. But no posters that I am aware of .

On the subject of the UT-CU game...
I'm not going to the tame Alumni sponsored event this year. In years past we were sequestered on a tennis court or in a gymnasium, far removed from any UT fans.

If UT tail gates are all that great, as has been presented in the past, then I'd like to check out the scene this time around.

Maybe Austin Buff or Ed Hook 'em can provide some pointers on where to set-up and what can be done to keep Rusty from getting BBQ'd.

Are you going to any non-CU games in Florida this year? I'm going to Gainesville for the UT/UF game and to Tallahasee (sp) for the FSU/USF game.

My gf and I were at the FSU game in Jax (rockin a Purify jersey no less ). Not a bad showing in the stands, but we couldn't find any other CU fans tailgaiting before the game. What a bad game that was...I remember seeing Miller get taken off the field...yikes.

I went to a UT game a couple of years ago and the UT Alumni has a building right across the street from the stadium, we just paid a fee to go in and then bought tickets for food and beer. The great thing about it was that you could go back there at halftime and get more beer.

That's exactly what I'm talking about...the Alumni-pregame tailgate is quite tame and away from all the action and fun...I'm looking for some CU fans who want to join my buddies (all CU alum) and I for tailgaiting together but still where the action is!:smile2:

Purify, I'll be making the Austin trip that weekend for various reasons (mostly family) and hope the finances line up for a ticket. Game or no, I am for sure going to be in the campus area with some beverages of good repute.

We'll keep this thread alive and get something going on. I know of at least three of us in the DFW area who are game. We should do a roll call and get a critical mass of people, figure out the parking lots, and how to best secure the tents, grill and cooler. Anybody bringing an RV down?

You are all welcome at our tailgate. We are sponsored by Budwesier and Tito's vodka and we love having opposing fans join us. We will have plenty of bbq and drinks flowing. I will post directions as the time draws closer...but for a point of reference we are at the corner of 18th and San Jacinto.

I'm there! Will be going to the game with 3 fellow CU alums. And yes, I will still be rocking my CU gear - hopefully it will get me a few sympathy drinks after the game haha

Let's get a roll call of who will be there:

1) Purifydat***** and 3 lazy CU alums who don't post on allbuffs.

Ya know what? If people would show up and stay a while, I might have the leverage to do something like this. As it is, I never know who's going to be there, what they've eaten, whether they want to eat or not, etc.

Are you talking about for Boulder Tailgates??

Correct.

The Buff Bus gets a sponsorship from Breckenridge Brewery, so it's not uncommon.

I might look into this next year. I've tossed around the idea in my head for a while. If I knew we'd get 30+ people at every tailgate, I think I'd have a better chance. Of course, it's a chicken/egg deal. With the beer sponsorship, we'd probably get a lot more people involved.

I hear you, sacky. Putting on a tailgate is a lot more trouble (and $$) than most give it credit for.

The location he quoted is 18th and San Jacinto. I never did a tailgate in Austin, but that's right in front of the UT tennis courts and near a large parking garage (several, actually).

Just put "1800 San Jacinto, Austin TX 78705" into whatever you use to navigate and that's your general area. I'd guess they have a big banner for the sponsors and that'd be a way to spot that specific one.

Saw several in Buffs gear and two in Texas' on the Southwest flight yesterday morning. Flight attendant pointed this fact out during her safety instruction routine/open mic tryout.
