Going to the homecoming game against Western State this weekend. I have never been to a college football game not in D1A. Wolves are 4-4 on the season in their second year.
They are coached by John Wristen. Donnell Leomiti is the DB coach and Dusty Sprauge is the WR coach.
Should be a good time.

You're in for a show my friend. Western State may be the single greatest football team, outside of CU, in the nation. I truley believe they should be in the national title discussion. :smile2:
Seriously though, fun games. You'll enjoy it. If you get a chance, you should see a game at Western State or Ft Lewis, or sighhhhh, Mesa State in Grand Junction.
Let me know what you think.

I work on a special event with Donnell and I have to tell what a humble person he is. You know it is what he did on D that gave Kordell the chance for the Miracle in Michigan.

hey...both sides of my family are from pueblo and many family members, including my dad, went to CSUP....and back in 2003 they chose one of my designs as their new athletic identity (although not my favorite of my design submissions)...so i have a tiny spot in my heart reserved for the USC Indians/CSUP ThunderWolves....

I know, and I have it on my back window!
My wife is a CSU-P alum and the way she has supported CU with me (even when CU plays CSU FC), I support the wolves. I have a ralphie and a T-Wolve on my back window. Nice artwork Ruff!

They are in the national title discussion. Generally it goes something like "you know what team will never, under any circumstances, even sniff the NCAA playoffs, much less a national title? Western State...."
:smile2:
Gunnison, Durango and Grand Junction are all pretty decent locations to watch a football game, though.... (Assuming about Gunny and Durango, but just the scenery should make it worthwhile...) No idea about Poohblow, though....

I think you're confused. Must be the Snowbunny State education. To go up in class you use fewer "I"s, not more..... :smile2:

 I dont see it stopping anytime soon. Maybe, MAYBE one day Junction will wake up and realize Western State is pretty close to Ivy Leauge (academically) and Big 12 (athletically) and Mesa is a nice little D-2 school.
Until then...:duel2:

Not if you go to school in Gunnison....
Technically, one ski lodge and one renowned institution of higher learning. But yep, located in two different towns. OK, one snowbound isolated mountain village and one economic and cultural center of western Colorado. But two different locations entirely....
Thankfully.... :smile2:

Come on. Thats like being the hottest girl in Lincoln. However, Western State is exploring options with the Colorado state senate regarding a name change similar to what Ohio State did by adding "THE" to their name for emphasis. Western State IS western Colorado.

That would be the most damning thing ever said about western Colorado, if it were true. Which of course it isn't....
What is true is that there has been talk of rebranding Mesa State as the University of Western Colorado. But the leadership at Mesa has decided not to mess with perfection, which I think is really the only sensible course to take... :smile2:

I have seen a few Ft. Lewis football and basketball games in Durango. Granted the teams have sucked, but the atmosphere was on par with a high school football game. The drinking and dumb Ft. Lewis girls were highlights though.

This game will actually be televised on Altitude 2 (alternate channel) as the RMAC game of the week.

The best player on the team is #20 Chase Vaughn, DE; and he is fun to watch.
I heard that since ***raska has dominated the Sun Belt they are going to try to win the RMAC next.
