Aldo "Nova" Vega was fifth in the same section with a PR of 13:49.56 and Matt "The Heisman" Tebo was seventh and also ran his fastest time at 13:50.17.

The women were not to be outdone as a pair of Buffs also earned spots in the CU record book. Laura Thweatt "young thwing" raced to a time of 16:11.55 in the women's Olympic development heat and placed eighth in the process. The time makes her the ninth fastest performer in CU history and was a huge PR for the Buff. Her previous best was 16:52.63 which was set in 2008,
Shalaya "You got me on my knees" Kipp ran in her first 5k as a Buff in the Open 'A' section of the 5k. She ran a time of 16:29.38 to become the 12th best performer ever at CU. Kipp won the heat and her closest competitor was Wisconsin's Caitlyn "Southern" Comfort who finished over three seconds after Kipp in 16:32.95.
