Pretty sweet.. LA every year now.
Arizona, Arizona State and Utah are the others.

That is a nice divisional format. Every team has a regional rival in the division.

8 or 9 conference games?
I'm betting it is 9 to help with Pac 10 network ratings and such.

Hopefully nine games. I like to play the Northern teams more especially Washington State at this time

Bad Ass!!!
Once the TV contract and 12-Pac network is formed, the only thing that could top this whole thing is when we make that trip to the Rose Bowl!

No way! We get a guaranteed game in SoCal every year, also 1 in Arizona, that will help our recruiting big time.

I will bet it's an eight conf game format. Nine doesn't balance well. With eight you get 4 'n 4 road/home, and it's an easier rotation for the cross division. Since all rivals will be in the same division it would not necessitate a cross-over rivalry game. It's easier to schedule that way and you get four OOC games.

Too many. Don't beat up your conference teams when other leagues don't go past eight or nine.

How about 4 home, 4 away, and 1 every year on a neutral site in Las Vegas...that would be money.

Wainaminnit. You mean California teams don't bundle themselves into an iron clad voting block that is designed specifically to bully non-California based institutions? There isn't some sacrid cross boarder rivalry game between USC and Oregon? Stanford doesn't have a dipsh.it lobbiest on their board of regents who is leading a smear campaign in the California legislature? There is no uprising in Sacrimento threatening to withhold state funding to any California based school that supports a conference alignment arrangement structure that might separate SoCal from NoCal?
There is no talk of an all-California network based upon some historical conference legacy? Shouldn't SDSU, Fresno, SJSU, and a bunch of religious based football universities be attempting to place the interests California schools above the relationship with a bunch of pathetic square non-California based schools? None of the schools are surrounded by endless miles of prairie? There are state parks, beaches, mountains, and major airports to serve everyone in Colorado's division?
This sounds too good to be true. Something must be wrong with this arrangement.

We have never beaten USC in like 4 or 5 tries.
I hope this south division format plays out because of what it could do for our gate revenue and recruiting. I think our natural rival will be Utah but I'm sure we will be able to develop a lot of animosity and rivalry between USC as well. My last year at school they came to Boulder and beat us 42-3 and they must have played "Fight On" 50 times that day. Soooo annoying.
On another note, outside of the rose bowl, what are the other bowl games the Pac 10 has ties to currently?

I'm not sure about the order, but....
#1 - Rose Bowl
#2 - Holiday Bowl
#3 - Sun Bowl
#4 - Las Vegas Bowl
#5 - Emerald Bowl
#6 - Poinsettia

Actually it was just negotiated a deal to send the #2 team to the Alamo Bowl against a Big 12 team. The payout was increased to over $3MM and the Holiday dropped to #3 in the pecking order.

This deal gets better and better every day...I think I have a man-crush on Larry Scott for all the moves he's made this off-season.

so it sounds like a lock that Utah is coming, but we have to be aware that eventually they are going to go to 16 teams and most likely all 4 will be from the south, which would push us and Utah up to the northern division. I wonder if they are looking at TCU at all.

Will the last game be UU every year?
This will probably depend on if the Utes keep playing BYU and want to play them on the last weekend of the season. Theoretically, we could move the CSU game to this same weekend on years where we can opt to play them in Folsom.

I actually wouldn't mind keeping CSU on the schedule if we could move it to the end of the season. I hate playing them week 1.

I can also see where they would split the schools that each "pair" from the division plays. For instance, one year the cross-divisional schedule for UCLA & USC: UCLA plays Cal, Oregon State, and Washington, while USC plays Stanford, Oregon, and Washington State.
Same for the Arizona schools, and same for CU/Utah. That way, even if you are in separate divisions, you are still playing a school from each of the other regions.

It will be challenging no doubt, but also exciting to get paired with the Pac's behemoth. With 9 conference games, we'd likely be playing them most years anyways even if they aren't in our exact pod.
Our timing is good though, as the sanctions against USC will likely drop them down a few pegs (or maybe more) over the next few years. UCLA has resources, but is never really a major player.
I wish we were in the non-USC division, but whatever.

The Pac is winnable. There is much more parity here than in many other conferences. Wazzu has been able to rise from the ashes and make two Rose Bowls in the last 15 years. Cal has reversed its fortunes this decade... remember when they were a BCS whipping boy in the 90s? Even OSU has been pretty competitive under Riley.
Methinks that UW is still a sleeping giant, and Sarkisian has them on the road back to dominance.

I finally have reason to drive up to husky stadium. I'd rather see them in a division with udub. But that's just so i could see them every other year. This makes more sense geographically.

Outstanding. Now we need a staff that recruit the hell outta So Cal and Arizona. There can be no excuses for us not to be a consistent winner in the near future. None. We caught a lot of breaks in this whole deal.
