Based on the performance of the O-line against CSU, I hate to say this but I'm guessing that TH has a loooooong day v. Cal. TH will be running for his life.

I didn't think the O-line was as bad as some are making it out to be.

Yeah, I didn't see these major issues either. The run blocking was blowing CSU off of the line, and there were many times Hansen had plenty of time to find a receiver. I heard Alfred Williams saying Miller was playing lights out, and Solder looked solid as usual. I guess we will find out.

I'm really not sure where this criticism of the O-Line is coming from. They looked pretty solid against the lambs. Granted, CSU sucks, and the O-Line will have a tougher time of it against a more talented and athletic front seven from Cal. I can only remember one bad sack that Tyler took, and it was on a blitz that BLock whiffed on the blitzer. That's not the O-Line's fault.

His last prediction was Orms would have a pick 6 vs CSU

Whether the line is all world or not we will find out against Cal. However, they were light years better than last year against CSU. Our biggest problems in the CSU game came from TH not getting rid of the ball quick enough and running backs (and fullbacks) not blocking their men. I think those items can be corrected with a little more experience.

Call me crazy, but didn't we have all off season, spring practices, and fall camp to work on those kinds of things? How much more time can we possibly need to get this stuff worked out?

would it be totally nuts to move Miller to the left side so we have Solder and Miller next to each other?

At this stage of the game - yes. Miller has been moved around enough.

I agree with you. Frustrating. I guess I just meant that hopefully now that we have one game under our belt our guys will relax a little more and just play (maybe experience was the wrong word). There was a lot of pressure on the team for that game. There will be no pressure in the Cal game because we aren't expected to win.

Just trying to keep it positive.

I don't think our running backs are going to get any better blocking, too small. This will be an issue all season unless Torres can step in more often and show something in that regard.

I thought Speedy did okay at blocking. At least better than I remembered last year. Lockridge was another story. I agree that I would like to see more of Torres, but I hope they don't fall in that trap of Torres being out only to block.

Speedy did pretty well when held in to block, IIRC. Lockridge looked awful, and nearly got Hansen decapitated.

I know a couple of UCLA alum that I have e-mailed recently and they both tell me Cal's D line is nothing to brag about. Hmmmmmm

I've also heard/read this myself....D-line is supposed to be very shaky....hopefully our boys can build off of a solid showing last week

Don't know what you guys have been hearing/reading, but if it's stuff posted on UCLA's BRO message board, that would explain things - worst message board in the PAC-10; they think UCLA is going to capture the PAC-10 crown every year, no matter how obviously weak the team is (FYI, UCLA does not have an OL this year). This is the first time I've heard anyone call our DL shaky - just so you know, it's the strongest unit on our team, with lots of depth. Our weakest units are probably our OL and D-backs.

I have a prediction. The team with the most points at the end of the game will probably win.
