After redshirting at Texas A&M, Adams has averaged 12.4 PTS / 3.5 REB / 1.4 AST / 1.4 STL for Navarro (http://www.njcaa.org/colleges_college_player.cfm?category=stats&sid=4&divid=0&slid=2&collegeId=1439&teamid=106911&athleteid=319462&seasonselect=503) while shooting 35% from 3 pt range.

The CU staff's connections to Turgeon's staff at Texas A&M is obviously at play here. Adams was a prospect they had been pretty excited about out of high school due to him being a pure scorer who can fill it up from all over the court. For whatever reason, it didn't work out and he's back on the market with 3 years to play 3.

Was thinking the same thing! Welcome and great job of the fans making this a great environment for a recruiting visit. I was hoping Tad had someone on campus for this one. The Foam Dome was rockin tonight.

Yep. You are allowed 13 scholarship players. We have 9 returning and then 4 incoming. Obviously if Burks or someone else leaves we would have another to give out.

Shocked the BDC broke this. They are usually a couple days late.

So who do we have coming back?

Scholarship (10):Burks, Sharpe, Tomlinson, Roberson, Dufault, Eckloff, Brown, Mills, Tunks, Chen

Commitments (4):Dinwiddle, Booker, Cain, Adams

Figuring that Chen will likely lose his scholarship this year (that was expected), that puts us at 13. Boyle has said a few times that he was still looking? Does he think Burks is gone? or is there one of the old guys leaving early? Or possibly is he thinking of redshirting Mills?

Now. We already served that penalty and our scores are expected to be good enough from 2009-10 to be out of the penalty.

Redshirting someone doesn't change anything as far as the scholarship count.

Burks isn't expected to return.

You guys got a good one. We heard here in MS that Colorado was the leader. Hate to see him go so far from MS. I watched him all through high school and was hoping to see him play in college. I wish him and all of you the best. Obviously I am a bit biased in my opinion so Im posting internet info to help you guys get to know him. We have another player here in MS, that I heard CU was also interested in- LeAntwan Luckett from Ridgeland, MS. You heard anything on him

Intenet info on Jeremy.

Rated as the No. 2 player in Mississippi by ESPN after averaging 27.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 4.2 steals as a senior at Madison Central ... earned all-state honors ... had three 40-point scoring games and earned all-division, all-metro and all-state honors ... twice scored 43 points in a game ... led team to three straight district titles ... coached by Jeff Heath ... played AAU basketball with the Jackson Tigers and Birmingham Storm, where he was teammates with DeMarcus Cousins (Kentucky) and Shauressy Smith (Mississppi State) ... also recruited by Arkansas, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Georgetown, Alabama , Wake Forest, Miami (Fla.), Florida State and Georgia.

Personal
Jeremy Michael Adams is the son of Jim and Teresa Adams of Madison, Miss. ... born Oct. 15, 1990 in Brandon, Miss. ... undecided major ... father played football (offensive line) at Delta State, where was an All American and he is a member of the school's Hall of Fame ... a sister, Madison Adams, played at Tennessee State and a cousin, Courtney Fells, played at North Carolina State ... father is a motivational speaker ...mother is a marriage therapist.... favorite NBA player is the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant ... enjoys reading and writing.

ESPN February, 2009: Jeremy is true shooting guard who can really fill it up. He's had a few 40-point games for Madison Central this season, which doesn't come as a surprise. He can shoot the 3-poointer, he can come off screens, he can hit mid-range jump shots, he can take smaller defenders to the hoop and he can even post-up in the right scenarios. Bottom line is he's a natural scorer. Adams flew under the radar over the past year because of an injury to his back so he really didn't get the exposure that other high-major recruits did. Once he got healthy, though, his play really turned some heads. Adams needs to improve on his defense and rebounding in order to make an early impact at College Station. He's a good, not great, athlete so he really needs to work hard on his defensive positioning and footwork. He also needs to become a better rebounder in order to compete night in and night out in the Big 12. Overall, head coach Mark Turgeon and his staff love Jeremy's ability to score and knock down open shots. He possesses a lot of upside and will be a great fit scoring set plays and in transition.

Thanks, mcjagfan.

I'm really excited about Adams. I think he and Carlon Brown will really complement each other and give us great scoring options from the "2" and the wing next season.

We're very aware of Luckett and are high on him. The question at this point is whether we're recruiting another 2/3 wing scorer after getting Adams' commitment or if Boyle will turn his attention to more frontcourt help.

If we get that type of production from him up here then Burks leaving won't sting so bad. Average around 25 points and raise the rebounds to around 10 and we would be doing very well. Plus if he is consistent behind the arc losing Levi won't hurt as much either.

Mike Rohn joined our staff from Texas A&M. Boyle and Turgeon are best friends. There's some cooperation there.

Adams told our local paper at the game last night (unofficial visitor) that he has given a verbal commitment. That article was linked earlier in this thread. BDC LINK (http://www.dailycamera.com/ci_17678495?source=rss)

Also, there is a premium Scout article that published this morning: Scout LINK (http://colorado.scout.com/2/1058229.html)

1. If we take Jeremy at his word, I think we're pretty sure. This quote is from the Boulder Daily Camera article linked earlier in the thread...

"I like it," Adams said of the campus and the environment at
CU's Cory Higgins, left, and Ben Mills celebrate their 81-74 win over Kent State. (Marty Caivano)
the Coors Events Center before the Buffs' historic victory. "I knew what Boulder was like, but since I've been here it's been even nicer than I thought it was."

Adams plans to sign with CU during the spring recruiting period in May. He isn't even thinking about trying to fill Burks' shoes if the sophomore star makes the NIT Final Four in New York his collegiate swan song.

"I'm just coming out here to try and play the best I can," Adams said.

2. We are Colorado. I guess those other programs just couldn't keep up with us.

3. Why would you need it reported anywhere else? It was reported here. Not to mention in the newspaper in Boulder.

Obviously nothing is done until the signature is on the letter but as others have pointed out, he was here and made comments to the paper last night stating he committed. While it may be hard to think CU pulled this off, the team is up and coming and performing well in a packed house. The environment last night at the Foam Dome was pretty incredible for an NIT game on Tuesday during Spring break. Tadd has this team playing an exciting style of bball that is going to be appealing to a lot of kids. He is also a pretty good salesman and is selling what we are building. We also have a state of the art basketball facility being built and I am sure the kid saw the committment CU is making to bball. The incoming class is a good one. CU has a once in a lifetime chance to turn this thing around and it appears they are selling it well. The question in the future may well not be how did CU pull this off but who will CU be pulling in. Go BUFFS!

Also Corsicana list a number of very good schools who may have been interested in Jeremy's services but none of those schools are head and shoulders above where CU is right now. Most got into the tourner but as lower seeds, a couple of wins and CU is in and seeded equivelently or higher than they are. Tad is credited with bringing his last team (UNC) to being a tourney team and all indications are that he will do the same in Boulder.

Had Jeremy picked CU over Kansas, Duke, Florida, or some other team that is annually a top 4 seed in the tourney then it would be a news story but for a kid to pick an up and coming program that plays a system that fits his game and has a school and environment that appeals to him over the other schools listed on Corsicanas list is not a big surprise.

None taken. We don't have a national rep in basketball and Mississippi isn't our normal recruiting grounds. Completely fair and honest questions.

As stated, there's a lot of excitement around our program right now. I think that our move to the Pac-12 is also helping that. It plays into the "new era of CU basketball" thing along with the new coach, season that got national attention this year, a likelihood of having our first 1st round NBA pick since Chauncey Billups, setting new attendance records this season, and being about to complete a pretty impressive new practice facility.

corsicana,

I wish I could, but anything beyond a teaser is copyright infringement. I push it as much as I can. And part of the deal for why Rivals and Scout don't complain about us utilizing so much of their material is that we respect that they have premium content and actually drive traffic/membership for them by the way we handle things.

P.S. I absolutely love the way interest in basketball and basketball recruiting has picked up. I'm glad you signed up to add to it. Good times.

Boyle has shown he's not afraid to compete, whether that's on the court or the recruiting trail. We're starting to beat teams on both that people wouldn't normally expect. Momentum's definitely building. We've still got a ways to go before the majority of our recruits are Top 150 prospects and the NCAA tourney becomes a yearly expectation. But I'm hopeful and believe that's the trajectory we're on. Call me crazy. :smile2:

If you don't ask, you never know the answer. Boyle is willing to aim to high which we have seen some other coaches in Boulder not do. Sure he is going to get turned down a lot, especially at the beginning but we have already seen some top guys look at CU as a fallback situation which is way ahead of where we could be.

The combination of the success we are having on the court and the buzz it is generating along with the fun style of ball that Tad coaches and the fact that his players seem to genuinely like playing for him and being part of the team will all eventually draw higher quality recruits. Tad has the resume to have credibility and with his stops as an assistant, his success in greeley and now his success at CU he has the credentials to get players and HS coaches to listen to him. We may hit some bumps in the road but I think we have the right guy to make CU basketball a consistent winner.

navarro college coach johnny estelle has a system that plays 9 to 10 guys every night and 3 to 4 of thse guys are guard types. no one guy got huge minutes jeremy was the leading scorer before an injury had him missing the last 6 or 7 games. the second leading scorer greg allen is going to usc. generally speaking juco is not going to be anywhere like d1 overall, you will find a few super players on most every roster. but this is the toughtest juco league in the country. last year navarro was a final four team and 2 yrs ago an elite 8 team. so this is one of the best programs in one of the best juco leagues in the country with 2 of the best players- one going to usc and one to cu

navarro college coach johnny estelle has a system that plays 9 to 10 guys every night and 3 to 4 of thse guys are guard types. no one guy got huge minutes jeremy was the leading scorer before an injury had him missing the last 6 or 7 games. the second leading scorer greg allen is going to usc. generally speaking juco is not going to be anywhere like d1 overall, you will find a few super players on most every roster. but this is the toughtest juco league in the country. last year navarro was a final four team and 2 yrs ago an elite 8 team. so this is one of the best programs in one of the best juco leagues in the country with 2 of the best players- one going to usc and one to cu

Thanks for the info.

As long as he plays defense, sets screens, and rebounds he'll do just fine in Boyle's system.

well the best thing I found in the article if the fact that the style of play that we use drew him to Boulder. I think that this is going to be a big selling point. I think a lot of athletic players would prefer to play in a high scoring offense. I would rather play on a team that averages in the 80s versus the 60s. Your ppg, apg, and rpg will all be higher due to those extra possessions and that can me higher conference accolades and possibly a shot at the pros.

I'm really excited to see him play. Carlon Brown is good, but he seems more like the slasher type. I'm not convinced his overall game can open up the game for others. If Adams can provide another good wing option though, they could really work well together.

Goose bumped Carlon, so I figure we ought to bump this as well. Has there been any word as to how his game is. Is Adams going to be impact for us this year?
