BOULDER- Skiers Matt Gelso (senior) and Katie Hartman (junior) earned the honor of CU Athlete's of the Week for the week of March 8-14. This is the seventh time Gelso has earned this award during his career and the third of this season; while Hartman has earned it for the second time during her career, both of those coming this season.
Gelso, a native of Truckee, Calif. (Truckee), helped CU to a third straight second place finish in the NCAA Championships, as he was CU's lone individual champion this year, claiming the 10-kilomoter classic race in convincing fashion. He then finished third in the 20-kilometer freestyle race, giving him two podium finishes; that gave him 22 for his career, tying him for fourth all-time in CU history. He earned first-team All-America honors for each race.
