LAKESIDE, Calif. — The University of Colorado men’s golf team responded to the challenge from it coaches and put one of its best rounds together following one of its worst and in the process moved up three spots into a sixth place finish in the Barona Collegiate Cup, which was completed here Friday.

Host and No. 35 San Diego State captured its own meet as the Aztecs were the lone team to shoot under par, finishing up with an 8-under 1,072 stroke total after an even final round. UC-Irvine finished second (1,094) with No. 1 Oregon third (1,097), while Nevada slipped from second to fourth (1,098); Northwestern rounded out the top five with 1,104.
