Hi guys. With one game to go in the season, what grade do you give JE?

No doubt our talent is lacking? Is everything still Fawkins fault? Does JE get an incomplete? Has he disappointed?

Whats the temperature of Buff fans here???

What's he asking about?

Despite the talent gap left by Hawkins, could Embree have done more?

It's a suspicious agenda. Also, I find it amazing that we haven't thought to discuss this just yet. It's a good question, though.

At this point, I don't think it matters.

No disappointment to me. He's the great coach I predicted he'd be, and I know we'll see similarly great results in the future. My expectations are being met, week after week. It's important that we give him 10 or 15 more seasons like this to take us to that new level - he can't do it without support.

On the scale of hiring coaches who are former players from within the same program, at this point Embree leans more towards Steve Fairchild than Paul Rhodes.

Dumb penalties still occuring
Cant even compete on the road
Recruiting fairly unremarkable so far
blowing home games late

Not a great resume is it.

His game day coaching has been disappointing to me. But, given what he has to work with, he gets an "Incomplete." His coaching other than game day is good. He is trying to turn the Titanic as far as changing attitudes.

Why doesn't it matter? Do you mean he has no chance bc of what Hawk left? Or something else?

Next year's grade is what matters. I think he was ******dick this year, but it doesn't ruin it. If he doesn't clean up the discipline of our players (penalties, out of position, etc) then we won't have a chance because they aren't good enough to recover from those mistakes.

Embree as HC had potential. His upside is greater than his performance.
As a first year HC w/o coordinator experience, he's going to make mistakes.

I agree that any evaluation of his true value is premature.

Great coaches find ways to win. Under this measure, it's clear Embree is not (yet) deserving of the title Great. But the potential is still there.

I think this is sadly on par with what we all expected (at least from what I recall threads saying in the fall and what my friends and I all expected) I thought he would pull out 4 maybe 5 wins. And honestly we really should have won against WSU and Cal. So we SHOULD be at 4 now. The guy has a rebuilding job the size of which we have not seen in CO since Mac took over. Even mac struggled for a few year (2-8, 4-7, 1-10). As much as it sucks we gotta give him time to get this thing turned around. I think he has the ability to do it. He has put these guys with VERY little talent in a position to win 4-5 games. That is pretty impressive if you look what we are trying to compete with. I think he gets a pass this year. Get his recruits rolling and see some improvement next year is key tho.

Relentless optimism is great, but couching anything about this season as "impressive" is nonobjective, sorry.

There's no question about it in my opinion - the entire staff gets an F for the year. I've gotten on syko's case about calling out Brown and calling for his head multiple times this season, but when it comes to the bottom line, I think he and I are on the same page. The entire staff has really failed this year, and they all get an F.

With that said, I still support Embree and the staff and I not only give them one more year to show REAL results, I give them two. I do NOT want an extension if he shows some promise, but the staff is facing a tough uphill climb. I like the staff a lot and respect their abilities.

However, when it comes to THIS SEASON - flat out F. They have only produced two wins...only one in the PAC12. I don't take into account all the intangibles - the attitude of the team, lack of talent, etc. Bull****. We heard this same **** with Hawk - the cupboard was bare, the team needed some Hawk-love, etc. Coaches coach and are supposed to get their team to win games. All else, while must be taken into account when determining job status, are passed over when giving an overall grade for the season. F. I reiterate though - I still do like Embree and the staff a lot.

I expected 4 wins (Hawaii, CSU, Wazzou, Arizona). We got two of four for 50%. That's an F, but I'll bump to a D because of all the injuries. He can get extra credit for a C if he brings in a recruiting class that ranks 6 or better in the PAC12.

My opinion exactly, although I don't know how much improvement we should expect to see next year with the addition of one class of freshmen. At this point I give Embree a C

i'd give him an "incomplete"...

i think the thing that has bothered me the most, by far, is how quickly the team just collectively gives up when things go badly. this happens so often and with such force, especially on the road. you can just see the guys ... all the hope goes out of them and then they just go through the motions.

it has been a hard year.

again.

D-. I know they're trying, but you aren't graded on effort, but results. I hope things get better and that I can give a grade at least in the B range next year. If next year's grade is still a C- or lower, then I won't have any confidence until major changes are made. I support this staff and hope they get things turned around in the next year or so.

I am Not sure I follow. Seems like you thought he would win 4/5 games, but are ok w 2 wins and 2 close losses.

For me the BLOWOUTS are a big concern. Seems like most of our games are over after a few possessions. How many other BCS programs get that dominated?

I'd give the Coaching Staff a D as a progress grade. Waiting until the end of the season to make a final decision.

I did think Embree and his staff would coach this team up more. Maybe it really is true that the talent level isn't there yet and it will take 3-4 years to really make things happen for the Buffs.

How many folks here on Allbuffs started a thread with their first post?

I mean, other than the chick selling hats (her husband loved his), that really wanted to just hang out and talk about CU Football, in the broader context of checkered hunting caps.

Or Matt Thompson and his team of dolls, trying to direct traffic to his site.

See my point here? What's this guy's agenda? Listen to his tone as he stirs the pot. Look, I don't mind some negative threads/posts, but something is fishy with this one. Troll.

Dog. If we give you a yellow-checkered hunting cap, will you just go away? The red neg rep looks good on you...it's the color of nebraska.
