21-0 VT start of the 4th.

This game is for a spot in the ACC title game against Clemson. UVA's offense just can't seem to get it going all day. They had a nice return in the 2nd quarter but didn't do anything after that, had a nice drive going in the 3rd but Rocco threw a pick, and now they stalled on a good drive and proceeded to miss a short FG. UVA also had one nice drive in the first quarter but decided to go for it on 4th and 3 from the VT 7 and didn't convert. Looking back it was probably a bad move since it was only 7-0 at the time, although 3 points doesn't do them much good now anyway. Meanwhile Logan Thomas has been pretty sharp for VT.

clempson is going to be in deep **** next week. thier d... while never that great this year has completely fallen off the map.

38-yard TD run by Wilson to put VT up 28-0. Game. This should make the ACC happy because the 2 best fanbases in the conference will show up in force for the CCG in Charlotte.

Sorry CVille. :sad1:

CV is pissed. I always love watching VT for their defense. How Bud Foster has never been given a chance at a top job is beyond me.

They'll probably lose in Columbia tonight to end the season losing 3 of their last 4, plus I suspect they will be at least a TD underdog to VT in the rematch next week in the CCG.

Because he's got baggage in his closet. I wasn't kidding about that

Credit to VT, they played their best game of the year, by far. They often do save their best performance for UVA. Still, the thought of VT as national title contender is laughable. I don't even need to explain why -- just look at their schedule.

Oh well, I can't be pissed this weekend with CU getting the win yesterday. I am on Cloud 9 about this road win!!

 idk.. when you say a DC has baggage, that takes on a new realm these days. He have a thing for hookers and blow? Or showers with uh..? Beamer boy is lucky to have the guy, though.

If LSU somehow manages to lose to Georgia and VT beats Clemson, your worst nightmare might just come to fruition.

It should be everyone's worst nightmare. VT has no business being anywhere near the national championship game. Today was certainly the Hokies' most impressive performance of the year, but even that speaks for itself in terms of their results/ who they've played.

Foster has interviewed for many jobs and has never even come close. Bud and Beamer have some weird **** going on

Looks like it will be the Sun Bowl or the Music City Bowl for UVA. They were way ahead of schedule to even be in this position today -- this is only year 2 of the London rebuilding project. If CU can come close in 2012 to taking the step forward that UVA did this year, I will be ****ing ecstatic.

Unless UGA blows LSU out by 50+, LSU still has the best resume in the country by far. LSU is in no matter what.

If LSU loses to UGA they would likely still be in the NC game, unless they get blown out. UGA is on a serious roll but I still don't expect it to be much of a game.

Not going to argue their resume, it's incredible. I was just thinking that a loss in the last game of the regular season would be pretty damning. No idea how far back VT is in BCS points, but I hope I'm wrong. As much as I don't want to see a rematch of LSU/Bama, I really don't want to see Bama steamroll VT by 40.

VT is 7th in the computer polls which is what will hold them back. Playing in the ACC plus their weak non-conference schedule is killing them. With Bama rolling Auburn today an LSU-Bama rematch is almost a certainly. As it should be, they're clearly the 2 best teams in the land.

Oh wow, I thought they were way higher than 7th. Gotta schedule some teams with a pulse OOC if they want a shot at the big game in the future.

I was thinking about that this morning, is there anybody out there that could make a case to go to the title game over even a 1 loss LSU team? I couldn't think of anybody.

Alabama? Lost to LSU, at home...
Oregon? Lost to LSU
Okie Lite? Loss to UGA >> Loss to ISU, OSU lacks the marquee wins LSU has
Va Tech? Not even close to the marquee wins of LSU. Not. Even. Close.
Stanford? Doesn't have as many big wins, lost to a team that lost to LSU
Boise? Obviously, they don't have the strength of schedule LSU does. But, they did beat Georgia, so if Georgia beats LSU, if I had to argue for one team this might be the one. Of course it would be a stupid argument, but probably less stupid than any of the other teams have...

The $EC title game is probably meaningless at this point. If it changes anything, it might be that it could be easier for a 1 loss Okie Lite team to pass a Bama team that lost to a 1 loss LSU team than one that lost to an undefeated LSU team. And that's still a major longshot....

Jeez VT's best win is over Georgia Tech, who was ranked 21st at the time. 0 other wins over a top 25 opponent. Yeah, LSU deserves it regardless of what happens against Georgia.

I think the team that really screwed the pooch this season was Wisconsin. 2 losses by hail mary really sucks. Oregon vs. Wisconsin in the rose bowl should be interesting. Speed v strength.

LSU has wins over THREE top 10 teams in Bama, Arky and Oregon. Unless LSU physically fails to show up v UGA, I think they´re safe. So is Bama. And I am fine with it, I really can´t think of anyone else who deserves a chance. A Bama/LSU rematch doesn´t thrill me, but Bama is the best one loss team and unlike the others, they at least ran LSU close.

I got to thinking about this again. Does the BCS still have the rule that no conference can have more than 2 teams in BCS games, and does it apply to the title game? Because if so, and if Georgia gets the automatic bid from the $EC, it seems like that would mean that either LSU or Bama would get excluded from the BCS....

Hmm, interesting point. Yes as far as I know they still have stupid rule (which makes zero sense), but maybe this would be a special case. The conference champ gets an auto bid, that's a given. But it's also a given that the top 2 teams in the BCS standings will play in the BCS title game, so maybe this is that one special case where a conference could get 3 BCS bids.

Hmmm, maybe one of our $EC fans like 77, Chuck or Tini will know for sure about this....

I haven't heard this brought up by anyone on TV so I'm guessing it's not an issue, but then again I don't think anybody is expecting UGA to beat LSU either.

I've been trying to tell everyone this about VT's schedule.

Why is there even a BCS championship game this year? LSU is the best team. Even if they lost against Bama in a re-match (they won't), they still would have gone 1-1 and beaten them on their home turf. The season should be over as far as I'm concerned. LSU has done what they needed to do.

But you still have to play the bowl game, whether it's the pre-BCS days or the BCS title game. And we've seen a few teams who were great in the regular season lose in their bowl game before when the outcome was perceived to be a mere formality.

I agree that LSU is definitely the best team but I also think Bama is clearly the 2nd-best team, so these 2 should and will meet in the NC game.

The thing is, even with a loss in the nat'l championship game, LSU should still be #1 in my mind due to the gauntlet of a schedule they've perfected. An LSU loss to Bama certainly wouldn't prove Bama to be #1 in my book...it would just even it up at 1-1, you have to do a rubber match (best of 3) in that situation imo

I don't know that LSU's schedule has been that much tougher than Bama's, the Tide had a nice win in Happy Valley and their conference schedules have been essentially the same. They both played Florida and neither played USC, and LSU will get the extra game against UGA. Sure LSU had the demolition of Whoregon but that win in Morgantown has lost much of its luster at this point.

Oregon >>>>>>>>>>> Penn St.

I dunno. I think if LSU and bamer are selected for the NC game, I may not watch. Kinda, meh. After all, they've already played.

I get it that these 2 teams appear to be a notch above everyone else, but the whole "rematch" idea just doesn't do it for me. Kinda like the Orange bowl about 20 years ago. Took the Big8 champ and paired them with another Big8 team, because no other highly ranked team seemed attractive. Didn't interest me then ......
