Stadium Upgrades

Just started following the Buffs this year after moving to Denver and am looking forward to seeing what Embree does next year.

I went to three home games this year and noticed that the stadium could use a few upgrades, especially when compared to some of the other stadiums in the PAC 12. Given how facilities can be very important in recruiting, are there any plans in place to update the stadium?

Thanks in advance.

Yep - the new Pac cash should help. I believe that they are going to upgrade the video boards this off-season. There is also some talk of redoing the field-house on the west-side, and the bathrooms also need to be fixed up

nik and bb had mentioned some rumbling about a big announcement in the nest few months

where did you come from evl? who is yor other team? nice for people to move to colorado and take an interest in the Buffs!

And glad to hear about the upgrades. Boulder is such a beautiful setting for a football game, and you get the feeling that if they pumped a little money into the stadium, it would make a huge difference (for both fans and recruits).

Speaking of which, would you guys say that the locker room and other player amenities are up to par, or do those need to be upgraded as well?

I think they recently had the locker rooms redone. Certainly the player amenities aren't as flashy as some of the richer schools are doing these days, but I think they're fine

Well the Pac-12 Arms race is hard to keep up with and insanely expensive for any school. The extra money coming in next year from the new TV deal should help every school.

Welcome, who does ASU go after for a coach?

Thanks for the welcome.

Right now, it's Sumlin. Apparently, he was at a quarterback camp hosted by ASU's current o-coord and fell in love with the place. Competition for him might be stiff with UCLA getting rid of the weasel and Sherman potentially leaving A&M for the NFL. Most people were hoping for Leach to counter the hire of Rich Rod, but I've heard that ASU doesn't want to touch him.

asu is prolly the only campus that doesnt have to worry about fat little girlfriend comments... maybe slutty whore girlfriends... but not fat

ASU. Glad Erickson is on his way out. The inmates are running the prison right now.

From one asylum to another...welcome to AllBuffs.

I'm glad you got the chance to catch a few games at Folsom Field this season.
It's not the newest, biggest, or flashiest stadium in the world, but it is a classic venue...kind if like carnigie hall.

That rarified air, sunshine and campus tailgate scene makes game day in boulder magical. When the stadium gets rocking, it's hard to imagine being someplace better. If you haven't spent the night before and after the game in Boulder, try it out. Milling around pearl street and hiking the area around chitaqua park adds another special dimension that the day commuters up from Denver often miss.

There is no huge cement parking lot or airport flight approach directly overhead. That's for sure.

Welcome, but c'mon. Sun Devil Stadium and Arizona Stadium are hardly better and I've heard the Colosseum is a dump.

Thanks, Asylum...this is a great site. Yeah, tailgating on black asphalt in 110 degree weather can get old. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

We are getting season tix for next year, and I'd appreciate any recs you guys might have for good tailgating spots.

This was 100% going to go down before we left the Big 12, but now that we are in the PAC, I'm not so sure anymore, maybe some insider can confirm.

Word is that we were going to get up to a dozen piss balloon vending machines in the stadium. No more self-filling balloons at home, this is going to be grade A urine harvested in a collaboration with our asparagus program on campus.

The pressbox needs to be brought into the 1990s before it can even get modernized. Has the feel of attending a HS football game at some large multipurpose city stadium. I've been in a couple in the Big 12 South that rival the NFL. Not saying that's necessary at Folsom but I bet if we polled some Buff writers they'd rank our pressbox at the very bottom of AQ conference digs they've visited.

Really we don't need more seats and certainly nothing that would obscure any remaining Flatiron views from the south end zone. We need to sell out what we have first before we think of expanding. Upgrading anything necessary in Dal Ward should be a priority before anything the fans have access to.

Three options I recommend.

1) Allbuffs tailgate. NE corner of Farrand Field. Hosted by Allbuffs own Sackman. Stop by this site early in the week to check in and get your BYO assignment. Ensured to meet folks who are passionate, mostly friendly, and enjoy talking football and drinking. Grills and cooler available for walkups. All around Farrand is pretty good. It requires a parking pass, though.

2) Gold Lot on Franklin Field directly east of stadium. Parking passes to this lot are reserved for the money alum that shell out a pretty penny for a spot. The vibe is outstanding on the grass. Check it out this season once to see if you aspire to buy into it down the road.

3) On the North side of Boulder Creek down the hill are large lots for the home and visiting fans who RV to the game. The RVs have satellite TVs and BBQ rigs that add comforts you won't find at other lots. The walk from the Harvest House hotel tailgate up the creek and by the lower lots is worth sampling.

Try sampling these three and wondering around campus to find other spots. Sooner or later you will land on your preference.

New football facility needs to go at #2 otherwise I'm not sure where they'd put it.

I park and tailgate in the #3 on that map and love it. Right by Boulder Creek, plenty of space to throw a ball around and easy access to the stadium. Allbuffs spot is el primo as well.

you shut your filthy whore mouth!

don't worry most of Franklin will still be there. They will probably take less than 20% of what is there now to build a nice practice facility over a parking structure. It will take that walkway from Folsom up to the field, the satellite area and where the recycling facility is the road will have to be moved.

Where did ^^this^^ plan originate? Post a link please.

Does this expansion plan add seats to the north east side of the stadium?

this was part of the CU 2010 athletics master plan, so I would probably discount most of it by now. It does show the b-ball practice facility though and it looks pretty similar to what we have today although probably not as good, I think it called for a single court in the original plans.

here is a link to the plans:

What does it run you down there? Getting tired of the St. Aidan's Parking Nazi even though it's only $350 to park there.
