Certain students getting special treatment...

RK

UBL
A friend of mine showed up extra early to the game yesterday to get front row of the student section, when he got there he was told the seats were reserved, he figured it was for students athletes (like at the football games) so he didn't object, but 5-10 minutes later a bunch of random kids showed up started high-fiveing the guards and filed into the spots. When he asked the guards wtf he was told that these students "usually show up first, so they earned the spots." This has to be the biggest ****ing bull**** I have ever heard, If you don't show up first then you don't deserve ****. I don't know if the AD knows about this or if its just some bull**** deal they have with the guards but this is a ****ing joke and needs to be changed.

Agreed. You gotta show up first to be first.

Was it the kids in the costumes?

1 kid in some stupid ****in CU halo outfit and the some weird ass chubby chick in a dress and silver hair and a dude in a suit with a top hat (neither of which were wearing any cu colors) :wtf:
and the rest were normally dressed. I don't care what the **** you wear, you want the seats show up first.

I agree. Just can't say I'm remotely surprised with anything concerning Argus, they're some of the most worthless pieces of **** out there, and I mean that.

Back inna day when security was run by Andy Frain, the "employees" were "volunteers" who were volun-told by the ROTC battalions that they would be serving as security for the sporting events. All battalions made beauceaux bucks doing this which in turn were spent on kick ass formals (Navy Ball, Marine Corps Ball, Tri-Mil Ball.)

All three services provided for football games - only Navy/Marines did it for basketball thus meaning Andy Frain then went to the general student population to fill in the other spots.

What I'm getting at is if Argus does the same thing now as Andy Frain did back then, the "guard" could very well be a student friend of the front row denizens who works for Argus for some extra cash and hooks his/her buddies up for the games. And yes, it's bull****. UBL, you have a valid argument to take to MB.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating. We should have reserved seats for C-Club VIPs. Both basketball and football. Dedicate a section of the best student seats for those who are willing to get involved, know the fight songs and cheers, get there early, dress up for whatever the theme is that week, help to get the word out, etc. Utah does this (so do some others) and it makes total sense. If you want the best seats, get involved.

My favorite is the athlete section where the women's team sat and played games on their phones the entire game. THen bitched when someone said something negative

Remind those feeble of mind again, what is this C-Club of which you speak, oh wise one?

Should include the football team in that. Terrell Smith was on his phone the whole time and so was Dorman and McColluch and his group.

I agree but these kids were not like that. Also if you want people to follow the chants you need to put, for lack of a better word, "cool kids" up there to start chants, I know for a fact that nobody wants to follow some weird kid in their chants, but if they see the same kids they saw out partying the night before up there they would get involved.

And its needs to be 1 or 2 leaders like they do at the rapids games not 3 rows.

Or just get there early. That seems like it should be good enough. If you get there first, you should have first pick of the seats. Why make it any more complicated?

Ah, that's why I got confused. Not hard to have that happen as a 35 year old + ????

I'm pretty sure the C-Unit "club" is pretty much all but dead
It is, but those guys had it right, it was a bunch of "fratty" lookin guys that people thought were cool. Ive heard a million times how much people hate the kids that try to start stuff at ball games because they are just lame.

Typical bull****...I had some related issues at basketball games when I was a student...when I was there, the ticket office had a policy that students could claim tickets for the best seats in the student section by going to the ticket office the week of the game and getting a hard ticket...sometimes I took advantage of this if it was a big game, most times I didn't though, but I still showed up to the games fairly early (avg around 45 mins before tipoff) and was typically amongst the first in the student section - on one occasion when I didnt have a student reserved ticket, I got there early, and picked a seat about 6 or 7 rows up...there was an usher there who didn't say anything, didn't ask to see a ticket, so I figured I was in the general admission part of the student section....about 15 minutes before tipoff, for no reason, the usher then comes up to me, asks to see my ticket. I tell him that I don't have one for this game, just my student pass on my BuffOne Card, and he tells me I'm sitting in a reserved seat and I need to move farther up. Of course, by this time, the student section had filled up pretty decently and I was forced to move up at least 20 rows or so, and I was annoyed as all hell by that. There was nothing to clearly demarcate the boundary between reserved and GA in the student section, and the usher couldve told me initially that I was sitting too close...I wrote a lengthy complaint letter to the AD about the whole situation and got some half-assed apology in response...and wouldn't you know it, a year or two later they stopped doing the reserved ticket thing for MBB in the student section (probably no correlation)

If something like the story in the OP happened to me...I'd be skipping the email channel and going directly to Bohn's office the next day to complain....there is absolutely no reason for ushers to be doing crap like that and it's way out of line...

The chick in the silver dress was hottt lol

Maybe that's why we were shoting so bad from the line last night! They were distracted by hotness!

I really hope no recruits for any sport were watching that game considering she was in the front row.

Why can't the "cream of the Boulder crop" ever be at the forefront? Noticed that the Express gals the camera focused on last night have slid a little too. Although by far the worst was the 2007 CSU game in Sportsvesco where the friggin' camera kept focusing in on some dude who was a member of the Express (equal opportunity!) that year. I did nothing but facepalm for the entire game.:facepalm::facepalm:

I don't know if it was C-Unit or not, but a few guys back in 2004-2006 used to hand out sheets of paper with the other teams Majors, hometowns, and embarassing information (like if they had 5 kids already, or "animal studies" was their major, criminal activity etc...)

when they would go to the free throw line all kinds of personal attacks were shouted out - it was fantastic!

Now Tini's gonna be busy all weekend.
