The chasm between CU and CSU keeps getting bigger. CSU hadn't beaten Utah since 2005, and was 1-8 against them since 2003. CU hadn't played Utah for 40 something years, and picked up right where we left off.

My obsession? Really. Hmmmm. I think that makes exactly one thread I've started on the subject. alrighty then.

If people only knew the delusion that comes from that fan base. Your obsession is far less than people still obsessing over ****braska here.

csu seriously needs to consider joining the Big sky conference

I have recommended FCS for CSU on a number of different threads. They are falling further and further behind FBS level football with no real indication that anything is going to happen to change it. Even if they got a miracle worker coach and started going back to bowls for a few years (highly unlikely in their current condition) they aren't going to draw enough fans and generate enough money to pay for the program and get out of the hole, it is simply unsustainable.

CSU going FCS would be the best thing for college football in Colorado. It would allow CU to be the only FBS level school outside of the AFA which is a national school, not a state school. This would allow CU to be the focus of major college football in the state without distraction. CSU would be at a level which it could compete more effectively without having the huge financial loses involved in trying to compete above their heads.

Hey Mtn., dont be offended, but I think I remember you posting that CU should consider joining the MWC when all of the realignment **** was shaking out. Am I misremembering?

Absolutely misremembered, I never posted that CU should consider joining the MWC, I posted that that would be a stupid idea giving up millions of dollars, and being a permanent step down. I was the one arguing that CU is historically a top 30 program both on the field and in terms of revenues.

In those threads however there were others trying to argue that CU was never that high in revenues which I disproved with some links to the statistics.

Hey Mtn, lil brother had their miracle worker. The miracle went poof, like an evil magicians trick.

That was as good as its evar gonna get for the ewes. Enjoy your memories, sheepsters. It's all you got, now.....and.....forever.

Sorry. It was Nash and Stampy. Those two ****heads really thought that we would be better off in the MWC. Still pisses me off.

They think they're going to hire Mike Leach

Only fans who have no clue think Leach is going to CSU. Leach will go to Washington State is my best guess. Give me Sonny Dykes from LA Tech and I would be a very happy Ram.

On a side note - lots of smoke that Fairchild has been given his walking papers with a potential announcement coming tomorrow.

Wow, how are they paying for it?

LA Tech's a better job than CSU. I'm not sure why Sonny would make that move.

Not sure he would. I think he makes about $350,000 at LA Tech so I think CSU could offer more money. He would have a chance to get out of a conference that is probably two defections away from being completely extinct. Its certainly worth a shot.

Not to be a total dick, but this is different from the MWC in what way?

Some of them really want Barnett, which is more than a little ironic. As much as I hate to admit it, he might be a good fit up there. He's a great coach, although not the best recruiter, and a CSU-type job is probably the best offer he's going to get these days.

How and where is CSU going to get this money you speak of? CU has far greater support and we basically are paying with our new staff through the new television deal, of which CSU has none.

Fairchild was making $750K under the current deal. I am sure a new coach will be offered something similar.

Maybe the department is on the horn for a one and done road buy-out game with Ohio State? Lol!
So you don't know? And please, OSU ain't paying CSU crap compared to what CU brought. But maybe they would pay something.

Actually, Barnett would be a great hire for them, assuming he's interested.

i wouldn't want to see gb there. even though it would be fun to watch all the back-tracking of their fanbase on all the ****** things they said about him.

barnett would probably do well there. it is a decent play for old guys who are good x's and o's coaches but not great recruiters. earl bruce, trashmouth sonny, etc.

Is Fairchild really that bad? He seems like such a good fit in a lot of ways. Maybe with the new QB he can turn it around. Is there anyone desirable out there with good connections to the program? What do you think the short list looks like right now?

These are serious questions Csquared. I prefer CSU to be good.

Oddly enough, I have a pretty close connection to Barnett and I have heard he is interested in the gig. He is a solid coach, a good and decent man and I think it would be a good fit. However, a hire like that would go over like a lead balloon in Fort Collins. I wouldn't mind the move, but I just can't see it happening.

Not that different from the Earle Bruce hiring in a lot of ways...
