Acc cg

10-10 at the half. Clemson has been more impressive but wasn't able to take a lead into the half, as Tech equalized on a late FG. Best crowd to witness an ACCCG yet, beating out VT/FSU in the inaugural CG.

Wasn't last year a sellout too? On a related note the ACC has decided to keep the next 2 CCG's in Charlotte and it could end up being the permanent home of the game. Good move on their part, although they've been lucky with the teams that have been in the game the past 2 years. It remains to be seen how much support this game gets here for a Boston College-Georgia Tech type of matchup.

Last year was close to a sellout at 72k-and change, this year they're expecting over 73k. Heard it on the Hokie network when I was driving around a little while ago. Think capacity is 73,700 or so. Match-up in Charlotte is a good bet with good proximity to so many schools, but you're right that a BC/GT matchup would be lucky to draw more than 35k. Maybe a little better than it would do in Florida, but not by much. Wake Forest and Maryland are two schools you want to keep away from the CG for attendance purposes as well.

Miami isn't exactly a great traveling school either. They can barely get 40k to show up in Miami.

BC-GT was just a random example but you're both right in that Wake, Maryland and Miami wouldn't bring many fans either. Even though Wake is the closest BCS school to Charlotte they still wouldn't bring a sellout unless maybe they were matched against VT. Duke is another one that wouldn't draw well but they probably won't ever have to worry about them being in the CCG.

VT and Clemson are probably the best traveling fanbases in that conference.

ACC should probably think about doing what the pac 12 does and put it in the home fields.

VT and Clemson are by far the 2 best fanbases in the ACC, hands-down.

Why should the ACC put the CCG at the home field? The game has sold out these first 2 years in Charlotte. I don't know what the hell Swofford was thinking putting the game in Florida the first 5 years, especially Tampa, but they finally got it right.

Yup, they've got the right location in Charlotte. It won't be a sell-out every year in Charlotte when VT and Clemson aren't involved, but championship game like UVA/NCSU would draw at least 60k...

Clemson's first ACC Championship since 1991 (year before FSU joined), first Orange Bowl in 30 years since their national title

So funny to read the Hokie message boards and see them melting down and discussing which coaches should be fired after an 11-2 season. Hard to imagine what they're going to do when Beamer retires and they return to irrelevance, poor fellas. Problem is 90% of these "diehards" only became fans in the Michael Vick era.

Bud Foster is incapable of coaching up

Why can't this program get over the hump?

Beamer has gone stale

Outcoached yet again

This team is disgraceful, pathetic and insulting to us fans who put in so much time and $$$

We need to stop donating to the Hokie club until changes are made

I've basically lost my will to live

10 win seasons mean nothing

Clemson is a great team. VT was outclassed. Had GT won then it would have been a better game.

Give me a break 11-2. VT likes to think they are like LSU where 2 losses are not acceptable ("2 loss Les"). Hey guys, you are good, but aren't that good.
