Jimmy started this a week or so ago asking who we thought should be in the National Championship Game. Overwhelming number of voters went for Okie instead of Bama. I did too. I honestly think we should develop a boycott of the NCG, starting with Allbuffs and seeing how far we can take it-maybe Facebook, etc. It is our own little BCS Spring or Occupy BCS movement. It is ridiculous that SEC gets so much cred and that a team that didn't even win its own division, let alone its conference, is in the national title game-and against a team they already played and lost.

So many people are fed up with the BCS now. Even Peterson from Boise State blistered the BCS-time to "scrap the whole system" http://espn.go.com/college-football...tersen-boise-state-broncos-everyone-tired-bcs

If we boycott the NCG, than advertiser's will be pissed, the network will be pissed and the BCS will have more egg on its face. We all know that money talks-especially in college football. If enough of us from around North America boycott that game (I mean who the heck wants to watch it again anyway-it sucked the first time around), than maybe we can make a difference.

I'm going into work on a night I had scheduled to take off so I could watch the game. Whats that tell you?

Something tells me there will be plenty of fans watching the NCG. But proceed with your little boycott, I'm sure the advertisers will be terribly distraught over a handful of lost viewers.

My only issue is that LSU already beat Bama at their place and I thought Okie State made a big enough statement against OU to get in the game. I'm not angry enough though to boycott the game. Bama and Okie State both have strong resumes for the game. The BCS system is what sucks.

It will interesting to see what the AP does if Bama wins a 17-16 game. Do they vote LSU number one as a protest vote for this game? Its interesting.

Yup, cause it will be a good football game. Too bad I don't get to watch a national championship game. Thats no different than most years though.

I will watch. Ratings are based on the Neilsen survey, and unless they have you fill out the survey of what you watched, or you have a seperate Neilsen home unit plugged into your cable box, and into your telephone line which transmits your viewing habits back to the agency, it won't matter if your TV is on or not.

bamer had their chance. I didn't need a boycott poll since I don't plan to watch the game anyway, but nice to get the idea out in the open.

If you want to go a step further, find out who will be peddling their wares with tv ads during the game. Call the sponsors and let them know you plan on buying from their competitors and why.

Are you people serious?

Who are you going to call at Ford and say 'I am going to buy a Chevy because you advertised on the BCSCG'? It will get a 15 rating and it will be business as usual.

and let me add if you consider yourself a college football fan and you are planning to not watch the championship game-you don't take your football seriously enough.

Yes, chuckie, I'm as serious as you are. Altho, I do give you credit for some tongue-in-cheek humor in your second post. And yes, I do give you credit for noticing that I don't think like you do. kudos.

Most "sponsors" won't take onesy-twosy calls to heart. Numerous calls will get their attention, particularly the local businesses.

You intend to hurt a local business because Alabama was chosen over OSU for a football game? Fight the power man.

Charlie, I will watch but this is hardly the game that would determine if I am college football fan. The first game was boring and you lost on your home field. The game I am looking the most forward to, and you will too if you are a college football fan, is OSU and Stanford. It will be interesting to see how these two match up and if Stanford has the athletes on D to stop the best offense in college football this season.

I'll watch the game because it will probably be a good game. It just sucks that it totally misses the point of the national championship and bowl games in general because it pits two teams from the same conference against each other. Determining who is better within a conference is done during the season.

It was sometime around 1980, although the exact year I can't recall. NU and OU played in the Orange Bowl for the MNC. I'm pretty sure NU won the first game, but OU won the re-match. I don't remember anybody having this kind of coniption fit over that game. Nobody saying that OU had their chance and blew it. Nobody clamoring for a different team to be in that game.

This is ridiculous. Alabama is a better team than OSU. They are the #2 team in the country. It's settled.

You REALLY don't know me. Theres not a chance in hell you are more passionate about the game than me, sorry bud.

Bull. The '80 game you cite was long before any attempts to pit 2 teams together in a "championship" game. The bowl games of yore were conference champions vs whoever the individual bowl committees decided to invite.

We now have the bcs -- a good idea at its inception -- that has failed on more than one occasion to do what it was designed to do.

I think its time for college football to move to a playoff. Even if it were only 4 teams to begin with, this year would provide us with (1 v 4, 2 v 3) LSU against Stanford, while Bama would play Okie Lite. I'd pay to see either, or both, of those games.

Someone please give me an argument of why Bama is better than OSU. I don't understand how you come to this conclusion.

They both lost 1 conference game in overtime. However, 1 team won their conference, and one didn't. I would go with the conference champion, not someone who was 2nd place in a 6 team division.

What ultimately killed OSU was the big 12 no longer having a championship game. Although Alabama wasn't even in the top 2 of their 12 team conference.

They lost to a team that CU could beat.

End of debate.

Sacky, if only that was the only criteria. Sadly for your simplistic argument, its not.
