Horrible....lost by 31 to Cal St Fullerton at home tonight...even better...lost to Montana St, at home, by 3...they really suck.

Yes.

They will not have more than 2 wins the entire season. They already have 1 - a last second shot to beat San Diego Christian College, an NAIA team.

Well done...I could not figure out who USDCC is....mystery solved. Like getting beat by St Mary's ladies of the poor....

Their one remaining shot for a win against a DI opponent comes against Idaho State. They'll be 0-18 in the Pac12 this year, I've never seen a power-conference team this pathetic.

Utah is bad. They are so bad they got beaten by this Fresno team by 30 points at home. After seeing this Fresno team play, they are terrible. Not looking good for the Utes.

I would have no problem turning a blind eye while they pay a couple recruits just so it doesn't drag the entire conference down.

Why are they so bad?

They changed coaches this past off-season, causing pretty much all of their contributors that would have returned to jump ship. 9 of their 12 guys are new this year. So basically, when you lose 5 of your top 6 scorers from a team that could only go 13-18 (6-10) in the MWC while changing coaches/systems, things are going to get really, really ****ing ugly. To make things worse, the one quality guy they had, PG Josh Watkins, just quit the team.

They are without a doubt the worst team in high major D1 basketball this year... I've never seen a team this horrid, seriously it's bad.

How bad are they? Well there are 340 or so division one basketball teams. I am not sure if ESPN even bothers to record stats after 315.

There is no excuse for this. They're a program from one of the big six conferences and they've been to a Final Four in recent memory. They should be able to bring in 9 new guys and still beat a program like CS-Fullerton at home. To not even be competitive would cause me, if I were the AD, to replace the coach before year two on his contract.

For the record, Fresno State beat Utah by 30. Fresno State also beat Academy of Art by 30. You can't make this stuff up.

Utah's single win came against a team that doesn't even have a logo on espn.

This thread is pure gold! I'd like to see it continue for the season:

How bad are the Utes? They're so bad that....

I thought they had more recent success of making the tourney but after checking they've only been to the dance once since 2005. But they had a hell of a nice run of a mid-major from 95-05 with 2 Sweet 16 appearances, an Elite 8, and that loss in the championship game.

Wow, they beat SD Christian by 1. My alma mater, San Diego plays them every year. USD beat them by 25. and USD probably won't win more than 10-12 games this year.

Basketball Prospectus actually has an article how bad they are this year, saying they could be the worst major conf team out there.
Repping you too much Jgisland, but that was a good find. Can't believe Ken Pom has them at a 20% chance they go winless in PAC-12 play. That is high and only going to get higher if they don't win again Idaho State friday.

Ken pom tweeted before the game last night how he thinks he even had utah overrated , that his projection for last nights game had such a large disparity with the vegas odds (something like 11 point differential). Utah fell to #305 in his ratings after last nights bloodbath.

Ken Pomeroy now chimes in on the sorry state of Utah basketball.

"They’ll be favored in only one more game this season - next Friday’s home game against Idaho State - and even then it won’t be by much. "

That doesn't matter, exhibition in college is a lot more serious than an NBA exhibition game. It's essentially a regular game. And exhibition or not, a Pac12 team should not lose to an RMAC team at home.

It doesn't matter? It's not on their record. That's a big difference.
