Ted Miller post referring to another ESPeNiS reporter's article that the PAC 12 will over take the SEC as the dominant football conference. Interesting idea. The comment section is on fire right now and worth your time.
 
I'd love to see it happen, but frankly, I doubt it will. They love their football in the South.
 
Realistically, you have the PAC, SEC and B1G and then everybody else. ACC is in the conversation, but still a basketball conference imo.
 
It's the money matters theory. Which is actually correct, but to say that the SEC will fall below the P12 assumes that the SEC will sit pat when it comes to money matters. Which it will not.
 
The SEC while always good, has not always dominated. College football goes in cycles and so to go power conferences.
 
The ACC puts in as many athletes as the SEC into the NFL.

This isn't about the NFL though and never has been. The quality of their non-NFL talent is pretty big compared to other conferences.

That and their fanaticism and year round football helps. Coaches that get paid boo-koo bucks also adds to it. As does the CBS deal and ESPN deal. I doubt the Pac12 could surpass the SEC, but that doesn't mean we can't step up our game and make it more competitive though top to bottom.

The SEC had 49 players selected in last month's NFL draft, the 11th time in the past 13 years that it tied or led for the most draft picks among college football conferences.

Who was the former Buff that posted an anti-SEC rant?

He based his entire argument on the notion that the fat people in the South are faster than fat people elsewhere. It was awesome.

Your response doesn't refute Miami's point. For instance, let's say that the SEC led the ACC by only a slim margin in those 11 of 13 years, but the ACC dominated the other two?

I don't know the answer here, but your argument is a poor one, assuming that you want to prove that the SEC has more players than the ACC in the NFL.

I understand, in theory, they could be. I highly doubt it and so do you but I can't find the numbers on it right now. I will and I will post them when I find them.

I mean how could anyone else compete? The fact that SEC fans claim superiority because 3 more guys got drafted from their team than a weak ACC conference is moot. Ok, you guys have more drafted people. But it's not like you have the only talent.

Besides, stats could be altered in any way you wish.

You made something up and I called you out. Don't be douchebag about it.
 
Pac-12 is the only conference that could challenge the SEC for the #1 spot.

1. Money.
2. Shifting population demographics.
3. Recruiting dominance of a region with a lot of talent, speed and great QBs.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I'm hearing more and more recruits refer to the Pac-12 as the "SEC of the west".
 
BC had 26 first round draft picks since '00?

First round picks
1. Miami 26
2. Ohio State 16
3. USC 15
4t. Florida State 14
4t. Texas 14
6t. Florida 12
6t. Oklahoma 12
6t. Tennessee 12
9t. Georgia 10
9t. Penn State 10

At 40 that beats the SEC's 32 for first round draft choices.

You can also use stats to alter the truth.

I don't even like the ACC. They don't take their football serious enough.

There is no theory, somebody can play, they can play. The SEC is the end all be all is bull****. If we are talking front 7, Ill listen to u. The crap that their speed is different is bull****. You should understand being the opposite of 35 that this runs in cycles. I seem to remember Tommy Frazier ass raping Florida. Auburn wanted U$C that year u spoke of? Yeah ok. You let your arrogance override your brain.
 
I agree. The money and demographics are too powerful in the long run. Although I still would like to see the post about SEC fat people running faster than fat people elsewhere. That would be pretty funny. Caffeine injected into the butter, perhaps?

Most of UM 1st rounders were when they were in the Big East. Those numbers don't include last year's draft which SEC had 10 1st round and ACC had 2. If you don't count them then you have 12 teams vs 10 teams.

They do however take their basketball and lacrosse seriously.

I wouldn't term it "arrogance" so much as parochialsim. But I don't think that anybody is arguing that the SEC isn't the dominant football conference at the moment. Also, they don't have problems filling stadiums in the Southeast.

You need to work on your reading comprehension. "As many" does not mean surpass or eclipse. The ACC keeps up, but it's not like other conferences aren't represented. I'm not going to give the SEC a rimjob because of something statistically insignificant. It's not like the SEC puts in more guys in the league 3 deviations from the norm with respect to other conferences. You guys put in more, but it's not like everyone else is a HS team. Give me a break.

If you look at the demographics, the South (and Florida, esp Miami-Dade) is where the talent lies. That's the SEC's stomping grounds and why the SEC and ACC garner a lot of attention. Per capita the South (and Florida) have more guys in the NFL than any other league.

That's a component of why SEC football is king right now, but it's not the only one. Clemson and VT are really the only "football" schools in the ACC, with Miami and FSU needing to get their **** together.
