Now that cs uwe has hired McElwain from Alabama?

I'm not sure just how good a recruiter he is, but the lambkins won't be any worse off with him Vs what they had in Fairchild.

these kids will go look at csu and their facilities then come to Boulder?? what do you think? most of these kids are not going to know who this dude even is. Not like he is going to hang a bunch of bama posters in his office?

At the end of the day, they're still CSU. Their facilities are garbage. They play in a disintegrating conference. They average something like 15K per home contest. Given the choice between the two schools, not many would choose CSU.

The big loser in this will be Wyoming who has traditionally loaded up their roster with Colorado kids.

The top tier kids are still going to look CU or out of state, CSU is still going to be a second tier program in a minor conference with marginal facilities and little TV exposure. Even if they get affiliated with a rapidly crumbling Big East this will still be true. If somehow their dream were to come to true and they got an invite to the Big XII they would instantly become the bottom feeders, even getting dumped on by Iowa State and Kansas.

Most likely they keep on losing. If they happen to start to win then their coach is out of there on the next plane to a major program and they go back to losing.

As long as CU takes care of business it will be very rare that someone CU wants would consider CSU. These cases would most likely only be if the kid has a family tie or his HS coaches were highly loyal to CSU, otherwise not an issue.

^^This. If he somehow manages to put back to back 8-4 seasons together, he'll be gone on the next flight to a distressed BCS program.

Who's going to recruit Colorado though? McElwain obviously has no ties here, and anyone who has CSU ties is already on that inept Fairhawk staff. I'm sure he can build a decent staff but the majority of the good recruiters who have ties in Colorado are already at BCS programs and I doubt they'd leave to go to CSU.

:yeahthat:

I'm not sure CSU will be focusing on Colorado. They will be mining California I think. The competition for in-state kids will be about the same as it ever was.

McElwain isn't a recruiter. It will be very interesting to see what kind of staff he puts together. I'm kind of expecting him to raid Pat Hill's staff from Fresno State.

csu gets to play Wyoming, New Mexico, UTEP, Fresno ST
Colorado gets to play Oregon, USC, Washington, UCLA,

no contest

No, recruiting the top kids in Colorado, we will still have to compete with the Auburn's, Ohio States, NDs and USCs of the world. Hopefully as Embree builds the program and builds relationships with local schools, this will get easier, not more difficult. This year more than any shows how much value those pre-existing relationships carry weight with the top CO recruits.

As of now though, CSU can tout all the facilities in the world and a new stadium (still just talk), but even with shiny new toys, they are, and will be for the forseeable future, a have not.

When we were having mediocre years followed by horrible years what in-state guys did they beat us for? Kory Sperry's the only one I can think of who would have made an impact on the field at CU. With coaching turnover and the growing disparity between our respective conferences I'd say there's plenty for CU fans to worry about but CSU in February will continue to not be one of them.

I've been to both CU and CSU on recruiting trips with players I have coached and CSU actually has better day to day facilities then CU.

CSU has brand new Academic Center, Weight Room, Lockerroom, Training Room, Team Meeting Room.

CU has Folsom which blows Hughes out of the water.

Here is the really messed up thing CSU has a permanent 80 yard indoor facility and CU doesn't have an permanent indoor facility. What gives? CU needs to invest their PAC 12 money in some real facilities.

Compared to the rest of the PAC 12

Arizona State are nicer
Arizona is in the process of building new ones which will be nicer
Utah has nicer facilities
USC is building brand new nicer facilities
UCLA are about the same
Stanford has nicer facilities
Cal has nicer facilities
Oregon has nicer facilities
Oregon State has nicer facilities
Washington has nicer facilities
Washington State has slightly nicer facilities

So CU is 11th or 12th in the PAC 12 in facilities

But, but, but CU has a live Buffalo mascot and a freshly standardized logo.
