Meyer already landing 5 star recruits

This commit is what finally made me unfollow NFLN reporter Albert Breer on Twitter. His feed is a 24/7 Buckeye commercial

Any news on the NCAA sanctions? I know The Ohio State implemented voluntary restrictions, but I'd love to see the NCAA hammer them back to the stone age for cheating. Lack of "Institution Control" would be lovely...

Don't hold your friggin' breath.

I think it's far more likely that the NCAA will issue a statement to the effect that they're really sorry to have inconvenienced the good folks at tOSU and hope this little mix-up won't impact their future relationship.

The NCAA has to much invested in tOSU to actually hand them down tough sanctions. Sadly no matter how much tOSU and SEC schools cheat they will never be brought down by the NCAA.

This is all BS. I argue with my family and friends back there all the time. The NCAA needs to get off their ass and lay down the sanctions on osu. What's taking so long? Gene smith their AD must have paid some important people.

What's worse is, they get all this and land meyer and their recruiting is flourishing. Sure didn't work out that way for ol cu....

They are probably just waiting to announce sanctions until the period in which they are allowed to levy sanctions has passed. Remember the training table violations that we got screwed on and how tOSU was doing the exact same thing during the exact same time but they avoided sanctions because they waited to levy them? It's such BS.

I was pretty sure I heard they were gonna get the lack of institutional control thing? Did that not get announced?

Funny thing is, The Ohio State Univ might have benefitted from all this mess. Landed the hottest coach in the nation, recruits piling up, and a bunch of PR (any PR is good PR). They're the 'good' guys when juxtaposed with Ped State and the U.

It seems as if these scandals and even sanctions do little. USC is still attracting top talent. I'm beginning to wonder if the loss of scholarships is going to hurt them all that bad. Sure, they won't play for an MNC for a bit. But they'll remain competitive and probably ranked. It is pathetic, really. And if the NCAA drops scholarships to 80, sanctions will even be less effective.

U$C still probably conducts business as usual too. I doubt they've changed much.

USC received some of the stiffest sanctions handed out for awhile...5 years worth...2 years with no post season and 3 years with only 15 scholarships per year which is going to catch up with them soon.

Hopefully. I'm not sure it will though. Not if they get 5* and 4* players like they have the last few years. I'm not convinced that Lane Kiffin is a good coach, but they did finish the season really well this year.

Kiffin seems like a slimy douchebag, but I'm actually starting to believe he's a pretty darn good college coach.

They will have great front line players, but no depth. You can't lose 30 scholarships over the next 3 years and not have it affect you. Especially looking at all of the 1st rounders leaving after this year. Plus there is the indirect consequence of those lost recruits probably going to direct Pac 12 competition making those teams better. Trust me, USC will be feeling the effects from this pretty soon. If the coaching staff can keep them winning, then that just means they are damn good at coaching.

Yeah they did and I doubt it changed how they go about recruiting. Sorry but I dont buy it.

I hate USC, but I'm not sure what you mean by this. I don't think it was their recruiting that resulted in sanctions, it was what was happening after the kids enrolled.

Whether its getting them there or what happens after they are there, I doubt U$C will change what they do because of sanctions from the NCAA. Only way to totally turn them upside down is SMU treatment. These sanctions they have will hurt them in the short term, long term they will be the same U$C.

What they will do is bring in as many 4 and 5 star guys as they can every year. If they run over on schollies allowed, they'll just run off guy's that don't cut it. Or some such douchy ****.

If you can sign 12 - 13 blue chippers, that 15 scholly limit won't mean much. Your depth will be limited, but baring injuries - no big deal.

Slap on the wrist, loss of 4 more schollies, and no bowl for 2012. Big Deal! This won't hurt Meyer's recruiting that much. He can redshirt a player and he will be bowl eligible for 4 years.

I agree most programs would feel this soon.... But do you think USC which has 5 star recruits starting at nearly every position is really gonna be affected? I would think depth would be a small issue but they will still have more talent on the field than 99% of schools. If I understand correctly they are losing 10 a year.... for 3 years. Which means they will have one less 5 star recruit at every position on average. Think about that tho.... If you normally have 3, 4/5 star QB's now you only have 2 bad ass QB's. Instead of 5 highly regarded receivers you only have 4 lol. Their overall talent is still gonna be pretty bad ass. I think the bowl ban had a potential to hurt more but looks like that didn't really pan out.

Not gonna say anything other than loopholes will be found. Thats what programs like these do, school doesnt have much to do with it, dollars do. Ohio St is just dirty but they bring ratings and they sell. Cheating and selling go hand and hand in several cases. SMU got singled cause they had no history and recruited nationally. Texas has paid for players, they always have and probably always will. If u have ever been recruited or will be, its not all on the up and up. Its really a process u dont want to experience, make the decision from your heart and the family supporting u.
