CU proposes 15.7 percent tuition hike for in-state students

maybe Colorado could step up and not be 50th out of 50 states in funding....

That doesn't bode well for any future quarter of a billion dollar stadium and practice facilities initiative.

Everyone repeat after me...the athletic department is self-funding and does not utilize tuition or taxpayer proceeds.

You guys don't even want to know what us out-of state types pay to go here. If I hadn't become an in-state resident half-way through my career, I'd have had to transfer out. CU is still a bargain. You get what you pay for: a world-class education.

I only wish the state government would give a **** about higher education and actually fund it properly...

I paid about $8,000 in tution a year when I graduated seven years ago from a private university in Washington DC and that was a Division III school. I have a good paying job with the federal government thanks to that degree and internship oppournities that were readily available in DC that time. You are going to a school that is part of a conference with very prestigious academic schools.

The problem is that FAFSA will not give you that much money until you no longer have to include your parents' income information at like 23 years old. I took time off from school for three semesters and as a result, I only have to pay back $40k total. If you can find a job somewhere to work until you are the age that FAFSA no longer requires your parents' income information, I think that would be a very good idea or even go part time until you can get more funding at that age.

TALK TO YOUR FINCINCAL AID PEOPLE ABOUT THAT.

And for any future students, doesn't CU accept students that have completed their AA's at a community college or junior college within the state? Nothing is wrong with going that route...even Cal does offer that oppournity.

I hate to be blunt but swallowing your pride by moving back home and going to a community college to get that AA degree and then focusing only on the degree classes that you need over two years isn't such a bad thing. Those general core requirement classes can be fullfilled at a community college and that would be just like $2,000 per year instead of that $8,000 at CU.

Your purpose in college is to get an education that will help you obtain a higher paying job that will be more stable over the long run compared to flipping burgers and delivering pizzas. You can still have fun in college without partying.

I'm on tapatalk right now, so I can't look, but if nashbuff voted on where ruggedvision is going next year, I am scratching that vote and scratching his choice completely. The other people who voted for that choice can reassign their vote elsewhere.

Well looks like my parents wont allow me to go to CU any more. BUFF FOR LIFE. gator for college.

I though the rate hike was for in-state students....
Out of state is still like 22K, but it's rising I believe.
