"Recruiting is a lot like shaving. If you miss a day, you look like a bum." Gene Keady.

Keady, Lou Henson, and Billy Tubbs are my all "combover hair" team.

when was Gary Williams at OSU. After he was at BC, in the old timey Big East Rollie Massimino, Lou Carneseca, John Thompson days....

Gary was at OSU for just a few years in the late 80's. '86-'89 or so. Started at UMD in '89/'90 I believe.

Thanks for sharing this. It brings back a lot of memories having grown up a Big 10 fan.

That is a strong list for Illinois. I wouldn't even say that Illinois was a stepping stone on purpose (as you seemed to agree with) for Kruger and Self. They just got the chance to go for their "dream jobs" (NBA for Kruger and Kansas for Self-ish; Illinois fans still hate Self for that).

There are some great nicknames on this list as well: Turtleneck (though not used as willingly as these other coaches), Tubby, Do, Bo, etc.

didn't Kruger leave Illinois for Florida before taking the ATL Hawks job? He had a Final Four team methinks with the Gators. Elite 8 team with Mitch Richmond at KSU. Richmond was a serious baller.
