We're not listed as an official offer, but there's some rumors that we are going after Newton. Don't know if the interest is mutual, but here's hoping.

IIRC, I've read that she is delaying official visits etc until after she completes her HS basketball season which means she will be a spring signee. It would be great if we could get her.

Confirmation of "mutual interest" today on HoopGurlz. She is having in-home visits, not officials on campus at this point. Unusual.

" Je Zhe Newton, a 6-foot-4 post from Chandler, Ariz., ....is entertaining nine schools over 11 days. ...Washington ...Rutgers, Boston College, Colorado, Illinois, Louisville, Missouri, UNLV and Washington State. Newton plans to make her decision after the high school season ends. "

BeBe, do you think she'll take officials once her school season ends?

Yes she will. According to an earlier update on HoopGurlz, she is using the in-home visits to help her narrow her list down to five. And she will then take officials to those 5 after her high school season is over.

By the way, notice that she is now described as a 6'4" post when on other places in HoopGurlz she is described as a 6'2" forward. A 6'4" post ranked in the top 100 would be a nice finish to our 2012 class.

Damn. Hoopgurlz:

The 6-foot-3 post, who is ranked No. 66 in the ESPNU HoopGurlz 100, has Illinois, Rutgers, Southern Cal, UNLV and Washington as her finalists, according to her club coach, Greg Strickling of GSB Basketball.

Seems she changed her mind again. BlueStar has her committing to Georgia Tech, a school that wasn't even in the list of suppossed finalists. At least the Buffs won't have to face her in the PAC.

HoopGurlz now has Ga Tech listed as well. Interesting.

BeBe, in your opinion is BlueStar accurate/reliable enough to mark this one down?

I think so. Two years ago they had Ashley and Brittany Wilson listed as Colorado commits when HoopGurlz did not. And they were right.

Good enough for me. Worst that happens is she doesn't commit there and I look foolish. Odds are I would end up looking foolish anyway, so we'll run it.
