West Virgina to pay Big East $11 million to leave early?

Are the Okies still mad that CU and kNU got off cheap?
I don't think so. They seem to be more concerned about all the complications with the newest conference members. I hear more talk about scheduling, travel, etc., and the on-going hatred for tejass.

Are they excited about Csu coming to the big 12?

I can already tell you - their response will be "No. Colorado left us already. We don't want them back." If I had a nickel for every Big 12ish fan that knew who CSU is, I'd have a nickel.

Kind of like the CSU recruits that come to town and ask where the they can find the buffalo?

Okay, so when I finally got the guy to stop laughing, his basic response had something to do with Hell and ice and, well, you get the picture.

He also mentioned something about delusional.

But but but they are talking about how cool they would be if they could build a new stadium, and their awesome new coach who set recruiting back 100 years up there by showing recruits his Bama NC ring!! They totally have the Big Tex drooling over the possibilities.

Some of the comments to that article are amusing. I can't imagine being excited about playing in the Big 12. Of course, playing in the Big east probably has something to do with that for these folks.

Trust me, TCU and WVU fans have no idea what their teams are getting into.

$11 million is nothing. It's, like, 15 home game's beer sales revenue.

Hope WVU fans are already heading west down I-64 and I-70, because it's going to take them a long ****ing time to get to any road games. Think our own alumni/fan situation was bad in the Midwest? What the hell is it going to be like for WVU? Nearest BigXII "neighbor" to Morgantown? Ames. 880 miles. And yet I've still seen their fans trying to claim that they somehow got the better end of the deal than Pitt and 'Cuse.

every day that OK State gets better and wins BCS bowls is a day closer that OU, UT, and OSU are in the Pac or SEC.

a lot of faith from WVU there. i'm not sure they aren't better staying at home than the XII.

the Big East has always been a made up, from scratch, ad hoc football conference anyway. basketball too, now that some of the orig schools bailed.

IIRC from reading that article the other day, the WVU buyout is actually $20 million, with the Big12 supplying the other 9.

The WVU road trip is nothing compared to the BigEWNS. I guess they didn't get the message from their own road trip map.

Looks like the team bus has already headed out anyway...

So CU paid just over $6 million to get out, and Nebraska paid $7 million. The Big XII-II-I+I-I+I has decided teh best use of this money is to give $9 million of it to WVU in order to lessen the blow for them to come into the league. I know they will get some money from aTm and Mizzou, but this seems like a piss poor use of the funds.

I guess the other $4 million was paid to Dan Beebee to buy out his contract.
