Older brother, Bryce, played at Oregon. Looks like he's playing in Germany now. Brendyn has some ups, just like his brother did:

Brendyn Taylor was at #15 when we did out Cali High countdown in April (but did not have a CU offer): http://www.allbuffs.com/showthread.php/60742-Cali-High-s-Top-20-for-2012-Countdown

Cali High updated in August and had him at #17 with a CU verbal offer. http://www.calihighsports.com/articles/318

#17 Brendyn Taylor

Position: Shooting Guard
School: Fairfax
Height: 6'2
Weight: 170
Schools Considering: Penn, Colorado (verbal offer) USC, St. Mary's, Cal, San Diego State (heavy interest, no offer)

<<bunch of stuff worth reading at the link>>

Overall, Brendyn Taylor is an excellent guard who should see his recruitment pick up in the near future.

The next level?: Brendyn could be a star at the Ivy league level. He has an offer from Penn and more interest across the league, and could make a Miles Cartwright type impact as a freshmen. However, Taylor is more then capable of being a very good D1 point guard.

His body translates to him being a point guard at the next level and with a little more time spent running an offense he definitely fits that role in college. Colorado is really in play for Taylor and the Buffs need a guard. Taylor has the stamina and quickness to run in Coach Tad Boyle's up tempo system and can knock down all the open 3's that are created by Boyle's run and gun.

How did you find that? It wasn't in the only 3 pages of "Forum: Colorado Basketball Recruiting Central." I can't catch a break with the spamming part lol..

Brendyn Taylor has been flying under the radar, as he has been out for most of the season, but is starting to play like his normal self.

It's on Page 8 of that forum. It might only show 3 pages on the front page of the forum, but keep going and there's actually 11 pages there...

It looks like Taylor had to sit out some games while the CIF decided whether it would, indeed, allow the hardship transfer. Looks like he's cleared and playing now, though.

i think that the only way we sign this kid or any other kid for that matter, is if the coaches know of some future attrition (ie. ben mills transfer)

Coach A is listed as the lead recruiter on him.

That's enough for me.

And this is why he is on the staff even though he apparently does nothing most of the year. He finds 2* guys late in the game that add significant value. See: Andre Roberson.

He entertains the hell out of us on Twitter.

New highlights posted a couple weeks ago (#14): http://www.prepforce.com/video/903/sg-brendyn-taylor-highlights

He reminds me of Spencer. Not quite as tall, a bit thicker, and a quicker/more compact stroke. Very similar games.

I actually like what I see more than I expected. He has a nice looking shot and is a solid athlete. But does he bring anything we won't get from Jenkins? I don't know, I have to trust Tad if he wants him, but unless there's significant attrition this year (or one of the current signees doesn't qualify), I'm just not sure this is the best way to use the scholarship right now.

But does he bring anything we won't get from Jenkins?

Yes. Taylor's a point guard. He's a little bit of a shoot first PG from the (limited) videos I've seen, but he's a PG. Jenkins is definitely a SG/SF type.

From Rivals:

Taylor is flying quietly under the radar at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, but he's quietly becoming one of Southern California's fastest-rising prospects. The three-star shooting guard is explosive from an athletic standpoint and loves attacking the basket. His jump shot is still coming around, but if he continues to work on his game, he'll be a solid contributor at the Division I level. Colorado and Penn have already offered Taylor, while SDSU is rumored to be heavily recruiting the Fairfax senior.

Fair enough. He looks like a 2 to me, but I definitely trust your info on this more than the little I've seen. If he can play the point, even on a limited basis, it would definitely help to change my opinion here. With Carlon and Nate leaving, another ballhandler to take some pressure off of ski and the mayor is a big need for next year.

`CU needs another power forward around 6-9/6-10 .

CU needs a 2 who can drain it from the 3 pt line. Losing Brown, Tomlinson and Dufault is pretty much all of our outside shooting threat at this point and it's not very good at that.

I'm not sure we have anyone coming in that can drain them, so if this kid can, Tad will take him.

The Mayor and Ski have some issues with this remark.
