Comment From Jim
When will CU starting playing Big Ten schools in football? Will our first opponent be Nebraska. Also, arent we potentially scheduling a series with SEC school?

KyleRingo:
CU will play at Big Ten school in 2014. You might hear about that deal pretty soon. CU is basically kicking off the series with the Big Ten three years early. Beginning in 2017, every Pac-12 school will play a Big Ten school every year. CU will have one on the schedule in 2014, 2015 and 2016. And, no, none of them are Nebraska. You might have to wait until 2017, 2018 or 2019 for that game

CU has been talking with LSU about a future home-and-home, but I'm not sure that will happen with the Big Ten agreement now in place

man, i like the Pac/B10 deal - but it makes that CSU game look worse and worse

Could you explain this?

Also from his chat:

"The details haven't been finalized on the three games in 14, 15 and 16. My impression is there is a home-and-home and a one-game deal for CU to go on the road."

Well, before we throw Bohn under the bus, I'd like to find out first whether this is being mandated by the P12/B10 agreement or if it's something he did on his own. If the latter, yeah, I'd be disappointed. Especially if the stadium expansion we're hearing about is done by then.

Right now, it's hard for me to get too mad at the guy. Taking 50 students to the P12 basketball tournament is a move of pure genius, IMO.

Unless we're getting a sweetheart lopsided home/away within the P12/B10 agreement/schedule, and I would be really surprised if we were. Then, tini is actually correct in his assessment of Bohn in this thread.

Tini, relish this moment. Someone said you might be right.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. CU should play as many big name schools each year as possible. None of this cupcake FCS crap. Great news.

I would hope any CU fan would be pissed off at scheduling 1-off games on the road. Talk about making a program look small time.

Sure lets cancel that CSU game and schedule Michigan (road), LSU (home) Alabama (road) and for good measure Air Force (Invesco). If were are going to do lets do it right. No cupcakes for us. Lol

I wouldn't be happy with a one-off deal. We're a big enough program so that shouldn't be done. Ever.

Have a bad feeling we're headed for another 1-off road game

THIS

I'm sure I'll get excited to see a game at Michigan or Penn State or whichever school has the juice to offer a huge payday for a 1-off, but it's bull**** that CU would consider that.

There's really no financial need for it, so unless this is part of the P12/B10 arrangement, I don't see the justification for it. As I said before, if this is part of that deal, our hands are tied and it's likely that every school would be faced with the same thing. I think it would be pretty funny if OSU had to do a one-off at Utah.

could help recruiting in the Great Lakes region...
Doubtful. Out of the top 20 rated players from Michigan on Rivals, 13 went to a Michigan school. One didn't sign anywhere and six went to either Iowa (ATH Ruben Lile), Cuse (OL Kyle Knapp), Missouri (DE Evan Winston), Cincinnati (DB Levitcus Payne), Illinois (RB Devin Church), and Tennessee (Danny O'Brien - Tennessee). Of the top 10, only one signed with a school outside of Michigan (Danny O'Brien - Tennessee). Of the six that didn't stay in Michigan, only one had a offer from either Michigan or Michigan State.

It's a bit hard to avoid if Bohn wants to start the Big 10 series as soon as possible, and the first available schedule slot was 2014. That gives 3 years of games before the official series kicks in. Obviously first choice would be a home and home and a one off home game. But failing that, you either find a team that will do a 3 game series, or you're going to have a one off game in there somewhere. Or you just skip the Big 10 entirely one of those seasons...

Bohn does a 1 off game, and I am going to be seriously pissed. Really really dumb.

It is amazing how the posters that feel a 1 off game is beneath us. First of all, scheduling is a difficult thing to do unless you are content with playing 2 cupcakes at home. Then you can always make a home and home with a big time program. Secondly, teams are not jumping at the possibility of playing at Folsom with the altitude. Lastly, we have sucked the last few years.

As soon as we start being ranked consistently, then we can demand more of our scheduling.....

We're a BCS school, we don't need to schedule a one and done, there are plenty of other schools we can schedule a home and home with instead.

I would rather play a 1 off game on the road vs a team/venue worth traveling to see if the alternative is a home non conference schedule filled with FCS directional schools.

Winning on national TV against anyone in the B1G is way better exposure than a win against some FCS team that would be on the PAC third tier/internet stream network.

By 2015 we better be competitive enough that we aren't bitching how we should have scheduled directional school so we would have won our 6th game and been eligible for the Used Tire Recycle Bowl, live on December 22 from Armpit USA.

in 2015 if we are still bitching about how we should have scheduled a cupcake we have bigger problems with the program.

Bottom line is we have sucked for over 6 years, and any perception of CU being a national power is long gone. We have no pull with any major programs to demand a home and home and our stadium and fan support is not near large enough to simply play all of our non conference games in Boulder when we can only bring in FCS teams.

You know what's good exposure? Winning and going to bowl games. You know how to accomplish that relativly easy? By scheduling easy OOC games. We play nine BCS teams at a minimum, no need to make 83.3% (10 BCS games) or 91.6% (11 BCS games) of our games against BCS teams. That is not a recipe for success in the BCS era and I can't recall a team who has done that in the BCS era and has had success with it. Of the five BCS bowl game winners, not one played more than one BCS team, with two of them playing each other (LSU and Oregon). Since we're locked in with CSU and I guess now a B1G team, we don't need anymore BCS teams, ten is enough.

who? Are you aware that MOST high profile BCS programs will only do 2 for 1's unless TV comes in to broker a deal? Ohio State, Miami, and LSU are some of the teams that will do home and home series.

PSU- Nope except when prodded to do the Bama game
Michigan- Nope
Florida- Nope
Florida State- Nope

It is not as easy as you think....
