Parking Tips

The last sold out game I went to was Kansas last year and we took a bus in from the East Campus. I usually park in the surface lot right on the corner of Colorado and Regent. I'm worried that that lot will be full and then I'd get forced into the parking structure, which is a nightmare. Any good secrets or tips for parking? I don't mind walking a bit.

I don't know how it is for games, but I used to park off Aurora - and that is where i park for football games as well

Gets crowded, but works. Park down there, over at Wendy's, or on the hill and walk over. Much easier.

Dark Horse parking lot was packed last game. Might have to go a little further to the grocery store this time.

I just park at the law building or in those spots by the underpass. Getting out is pretty easy to.

What so bad about the Parking garage? Its close, and other than the one day when we had the ridiclous snow storm that blocked a lane of traffic on Regent, it's pretty easy to get out of. I have parked there for years without issue.

You must either haul ass as soon as the game is over or hang out for a good 15-20 minutes before going to your car then. I've only parked there twice this year -- both times for non-conference games -- and it still took me over 15 minutes to get out of there once I got in my car.

We typically stay for the Alma Mater, then walk through the tunnel and out the practice facility with the majority of people. Like I said, only had issues maybe twice when there was snow, and I would much rather wait 3 or 4 minutes in the warm car then have to walk 5 extra minutes in the cold. I will say we normally get there pretty early and park in the basement.

I will say when it is really cold, or nasty outside, we park up by the Planitarium, but since we head north on foothills after the game to get home, its kinda a pain to loop around broadway to get home.

This except it took us 30 minutes because we were on the top floor.

The parking structure empties one floor at a time. You're OK on the ground floor, but it takes close to 15 minutes per floor. I've waited 40 minutes on the top floor just to begin moving.

P.S. Tonight's game is all but a sellout. Only one one level of seats are left, and they're mostly singles.

If you can get there early enough there is a lot that you get to by turning left as you pass next to the Planetarium by Kitt. Its a quick walk down a hill to the doors.

You guys must suck at driving, I have never had those kinds of problems parking in the garage, and I have parked at the top before. Are you going to get in your car and start driving immediatly? no, but its really not that bad getting out of Coors. But yes, it is worse that it was 4 years ago, just call it the price of watching a win.

For comparison, at University of Maryland they completely shut down all incoming and crossing roads coming out of the arena, and it still takes considerably longer to just move. That is with parking in the "VIP" parking next to the stadium, from what I hear is those who dont have the VIP passes have a much harder time getting out, and they have to take a bus to their parking lot.

I would say we dont have it too bad, and its not worth complaining about.

Ah. I wait forty minutes before moving every morning unless I have to pee.
