TZI and Yung on Twitter are helping me come around a little on Altman, but I still think he's done the third best job this year behind Tad & Romar.

Pac-12 LINK.

Congrats to Dre, Carlon and The Major:thumbsup: I have to think Boyle finished #2 behind LoRo. I know many Seattle fans think this was Romar's best coaching job ever with what he was dealt to start the year and the team picked to finish no higher than 4th...

Anyway, congrats on the accolades for the 'Buffs!

Idk how a player from the 3rd best fg% defense team with the 9th highest rebounds in the conference, beats out a player with the most rebounds in the league on the team with the 2nd fg% defense in the league... ****ing stupid. Dre had 336 rebounds, 57 blocks, 34 steals. Gutierrez has 157 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 35 steals.... Dre got screwed.

And here I was scrambling to find stats. You've got them pre-researched for me!

'Dre absolutely got robbed. Gutierrez is a scrapper, but 'Dre still had better numbers. Maybe Tad shouldn't have let slip that 'Dre struggles with the box out, maybe the writers wouldn't have noticed?

How Boyle lost this is beyond me... maybe it has to do with losing these past two, but agree at least it isnt Altman. Dre not getting DPOY is pretty awful too.

Losing 3-4 down the stretch by a combined bajillion points didn't help. Coach Boyle certainly over-achieved this year, but the stretch collapse had me thinking Altman. Surprised at Romar, it seems like a default answer from guys who didn't want to put the work in.

This vote isn't done by the writers, done by the coaches. I am sure they notice he hasn't boxed out in 2 years, doesn't mean it isn't BS though.

The Major Mayor!

My bad, thanks for the fix 'Tini! I guess I need to get my eyes and typing abiliities checked:lol:

Regarding Romar vs. Boyle vs. Altman.... I think Romar and Boyle did a much better job than Altman... and I'm not sure what would lead one to think of Romar as the *default* choice. If you dig deeper this is what you see:

Oregon has a veteran squad with 7 upperclassmen (4 seniors and 3 juniors) vs. UW with 3 (1 senior and 2 juniors). Boyle I'm leaving out because I think it could be argued he deserved the title as well, and with one or two wins vs. the Oregon schools last weekend he probably would have won... But Romar did more with less than Altman had. I fully expect Boyle to have several COY awards at CU in the future. He's top notch and it's showing.

UW initially picked 4th in conference won it outright
Oregon picked 5th and tied for 2nd

Romar's accomplishments this year
--UW 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] youngest team in the Pac (behind USC)
--4/5 starters lost from last year's squad due to graduation or early NBA entry
--UW's top returning scorer (Suggs) got injured in pre-season and missed the entire year, ended up redshirting
--UW picked to finish no higher than 4[SUP]th[/SUP] (when voters thought Suggs was returning)
--Best pure shooter (CJ Wilcox) injured majority of conference play (missed 3 games and has not practiced with team since early January)
--8 freshman on team (1 RS playing, 2 RS sitting, 5 true Frosh with playing time)
--3rd time in Romar's tenure UW finished conference play 14-4. UW has won 15 conference games twice (1943 and 1953). Basically this is Romar's best conference year (tied) with probably his youngest squad

UW had no business winning the Pac this year, even in a *down* year for the conference. I think Romar did a great job. His teams notoriously start slow and finish strong, but this year UW started without leadership and the team has matured tremendously over the season. Considering their youth this has been a banner year of coaching for Romar, if not his finest yet.

Regarding Dre, absolutely he could or should be considered for defensive player of the year. Is there anyone else you'd rather have spark your D?

One thing is for sure, the Pac will be tremendously improved over the next few years and it's looking bright. Arizona, UCLA, UW, CU, Oregon and Cal all look to be in good position for years to come. And Stanford is no slouch either. Bone has WSU competitive and the Beavers can't be taken lightly. The only schools tanking right now are Utah, ASU and U$C. Utah was gutted and could be back quick. I think the Pac is going to be fun to watch in the foreseeable future, and it starts Wednesday. Anyone have a guess as to the tourney champ? Over half the Pac has a legitimate shot of winning the auto-bid and I would not want to bet on a parlay with any of the games...

If the Pac can slow the early defections to the NBA there is no reason to think we won't be a regular top 2 or 3 conference. I'm sick of this low RPI stuff...
