Official Game Thread: CU vs Cal

I think we have our official Cal game thread now...

The men are trying to avenge the loss the women's team suffered yesterday. Game time is, yet again, at 9:30 pm and on FSN/ROOT.

Look forward the game this evening.

Teams are simillar. Split the regular season, with both teams winning at home. Both teams had a winning conference record and won 20 games overall. Both teams are well coached. Neither team has a deep bench.

It's going to be a brutal game. It won't be a blowout or comfortable win for either team. I'm getting a little nervous about CU's legs, but we'll see.

Me too. Dre was in a 1v5 rebounding war most of the night. He's been killing it lately, but you gotta wonder when he is gonna start losing his edge. However, I'm glad Brown is being forced to play every night when he's on a hot streak

Look fur wood to the game this evening.

Trees are simillar. Split the regular seasonal, with both trees winning at home. Both trees had a winning conifer record and won 20 games over fall. Both trees are well oaked. Neither tree has a deep branch.

Cal's complete and total lack of depth makes me feel much more comfortable, especially coming off a physical game against Stanford.

I guaranteed that victory against Oregon. Cal, I am not getting any feelings about. It is gonna be WAR.

Worried on the tired legs as well and the consequences on our shooting percentage. We have to keep turnovers down and get to the line.

Goose. You gotta promote the GiA's post as an article for the game thread.

Fair concern, but again, we're lucky to be playing a team with far less depth than we have. The Bears are coming off two games against Stanford (Sunday/Thursday) and have to be worn down a ways physically as a consequence

good point, forgot they played them twice, and stanford made them earn that victory last night.

I like that we've gotten the same time slot for all 3 games. That's an advantage. Athletes love routines.

(If we win, though, it's going to make the Saturday game time a hell of a turn around at 3pm Pacific.)

Lets get #GutierrezSucks trending on twitter. I want Laura Mckeeman to have no choice but to say it.

A feisty herd tonight eh? You guys sound pretty confident.

I'll put it this way: Last year in the Big XII semifinals, we faced Kansas in KC in front of 20k Jayhawk fans. This is a preferable situation to that. The Buffs and Bears have had two good games this year, here's to a third.

I think it is a tossup. But we've been itching for meaningful games around here for a while and this game certainly fits the bill. Whoever wins this will have a real chance at being the conf champion. So yes, I think the excitement is palpable.

I was not expecting anything but hostility but these posts speak volumes and I applaud you two (especially since I know how much Daah loves Cal and how much CVille loves trolls). I think we match-up well. We also played Kansass and got into a near fist fight on that night. Should be a good game tonight. Many of CU's and Cal's alums are in So. Cal so we should push there. We play well in So. Cal and you guys have been tearing it up lately so I agree-this will be a war. May the winner take the tourney.

GO BEARS!

For sh*ts and giggles:
(and yes, I know which one of you is Twister)

I'm just glad we didn't draw Stanford. One of those matchups that just doesn't work.

This Cal game is going to be interesting early. After the way the last game went, Montgomery's going to have made adjustments. He's a good coach with some nice pieces to work with. I'm expecting to see them feed the post while trying to get Jorge off early. Maybe a little 2-man game with him and Kamp. If we don't fall behind early, then there's a good chance that we're in good shape.

Also, I heard some announcers talking during the last couple games that Dre was second to only Anthony Davis of Kentucky (national DPOY) in percentage of defensive possessions ended (maybe effected?) - something like that. He was one of the only guys even close. Rep to anyone who can find the stat they were talking about.

To me, that would pretty much settle the debate on who should have been DPOY in the Pac-12. Jorge is a fine player and a heck of a defender, but I think the rep of a senior who has played in the conference for 4 years won it for him over a soph on a team in its first year in the conference.

Yeah actually and this place sucks but not as bad as Jorge against the Buffs.

Jorge lit us up in the NIT last year before he got hurt. I can't explain why he has struggled so much against us.

Has Mayor been his primary defender?
