'12 MI SF Chris Jenkins (Signed to Colorado)

Said he was 6-7 and 185 tonight on buff chip radio, said his strength is his mid range game.

Also said U of Michigan, Stanford and Texas Tech also recruited him. Planning to major in pre-med chemistry and if that doesn't work out will major in philosophy. Goes to #1 academic school in Michigan.

In weight room 5 days a week, coming to boulder in june to workout and take classes.

Wish they would have asked him if he thought he was going to RS this yr.

He definitely didn't sound like he was coming into this with the intent to redshirt. He sounds like he wants to get out there and ball right away. We'll find out this summer how ready he might be for that.

I am so pumped for this kid. Most excited for this recruit than all the others, easily. Even if he redshirts, which I don't expect, I think he will be one of the great Buffs of all time.

Adams better be ready for some competition next year. I think it's gonna be tough to keep Jenkins off the floor.

Very similar with the release and body control.

Could be the level of competition, but it looks like his release is much quicker. I will be very interested to see how he progresses, I feel that players like this either explode and do really well, or get upset and become bench players.

anyone else eerily reminded of Higgins? Same # even.

Those pull up jumpers and some of his layups and reverse lay ups are like watching replays from two years ago.

Quite a bit thinner than Higgins I think. Idk if he will be able to do all of that immediately at this level but a year or two in and he is going to be a gamer for us.

Wow, his jumper looks very polished and he's quicker than I thought he'd be. He looks like a 6-7 shooting guard to me. Tad may have stole another.

This is from Cory's freshman year:

He had some muscles, but he was carrying 175 lbs (at most) on a 6'5" frame.

I'm starting to think that Jenkins was the steal of this recruiting class.

I'm starting to think that all talk of him redshirting is gone.

The mid-range game is impressive, isn't it? Great court awareness, too.

It's fairly easy to defend a guy who is either going to take a long jump shot or drive to the basket (Dre's limitation last year in most games), but when a guy can pull up off the drive and pop there's almost nothing a defender can do. I really think he's a taller, longer Cory.

what he does to the zone at 4:30 (I think) is just beautiful. Dude has a stroke from anywhere on the court, and having a hand in his face doesn't seem to faze him (I know, highlights).

Other than that, I worry about how soft he goes to the rim when he obviously has the athleticism to go harder. That is gonna get a lot of shots blocked against big time competition.

Defense, I think, will be his issue, at first.

That video should alleviate a lot of concerns. I never realized his shot was that big a part of his game, I expect him on the court come November.

Looks like Boyle found another diamond in the rough. Would be a bit shocked if Jenkins wasn't a part of the rotation

That's a really sweet release. Perhaps the highlights aspect is skewing my thinking, but if his build limits his ability on D or to finish in the paint, does this kid have a shot to be our designated shooter, at least during his freshman year?

Lot to dream on there for the longterm, though.
