Bret Bielema needs to change his approach to recruiting quarterbacks

As CBSSports.com's Bruce Feldman confirmed on Wednesday, Danny O'Brien will be transferring to Wisconsin to play quarterback for the Badgers this season. It's the second straight year that Wisconsin will have a transfer from the ACC under center, following Russell Wilson in 2011.

The Wilson transfer worked out well for Wisconsin, and the Danny O'Brien transfer may work out just as well. Still, this is not a formula for continued success that Bret Bielema is currently using at Madison.

Good suggestion. I think they are over-recruiting offensive linemen. Two QBs and two kickers every class would be wise.

Uhh. Once we go to 2 straight rose bowls.... Then I think we can criticize his recruiting.

Wisconsin is in exactly the same situation at QB as the Buffs. The heir apparent at QB is hurt, missed spring practice and may not be ready to go in fall. The other QB's on the roster are a mix of walk-ons and and guys that haven't panned out. They also have an Elite 11 QB coming in as a freshman.

I don't see anything wrong with what they've done - both O'Brien and Russell Wilson last year approached the Wisconsin staff initially, not the other way around.

Nothing wrong with what they've done. It's a surprise to me, though, that they've had to rely on transfers given the run of success and the number of QBs they've put in the NFL. Anyone will have a year with a depth problem, but 2 years in a row is surprising.

Hope the running game is looking mean this year for Wisconsin - as I'm sure it probably is - because O'Brien isn't in the same ballpark as Wilson (excuse the pun).
