Will any of the Buffs be roaming to other programs? Head coach Tad Boyle indicated at his season-ending press conference last week that a player or two on the roster could transfer from Colorado after the spring semester.

I still don't think they stay. Thorburn had a article saying that CU still had a shot with Chris Thomas today as well.

If Mills will redshirt next year, then that's cool. Or if he bulks up enough to earn regular game minutes, then that's cool. It's just not good for him or for the program to have him playing 21 minutes for the entire season.

Regarding Sharpe, he qualified that he's coming back with an "as of now" qualifier. Maybe he does, though. If he's in really good academic shape, he might be better off getting to play in some games this year, graduate in the spring, and then play immediately next season as a grad transfer somewhere... versus transferring now and having to sit out a year for 1 year of eligibility.

Understand they aren't going to say they are planning on transferring until they are confirmed on another team. It wouldn't be smart until they are sure they have a spot.

That would only be smart with the media.

I can't remember how it works, though. I think Tad can give them permission to initiate speaking to other coaches, but other coaches can't initiate contact unless they've filed their paperwork.

Hmm..yeah I don't know how it works.

i think at the D1 and D2 level, the coach has two choices, 1- a conditional release in which the player must submit what team he would like to contact and Coach would approve/disapprove
2- a blanket release(w/ usually 1 stipulation, no transferring within the conference) in which the player is can contact whomever outside the PAC12

Way more details over at NCAA.org....

Also Buffnik, in regards to sharpe, why would he have only 1 year of elig. left if he transferred? thought he only used up 2 years and his freshman year was a medical redshirt...thx in advance

5 year clock. He used 3, would sit out one year as a transfer, and then play 1 year.

I guess there's a chance that Shannon might get a medical waiver for a 6th year.
