:gobuffs:

also, some news out of this video: Greg Henderson is also practicing at Nickel. Makes you think the coaches are pretty sure the DB's coming in are going to be earning playing time. No Job is safe...

Nice to see the players wrapping up on tackles rather than just throwing their body

This. Most of those tackles weren't high, but at the hips. Hopefully the LBs and DLs are taught this a lot better this year. I hated us going high all of the time only to whiff and have the QB or RB go for 20. Ugh.

Lol at Embree trying to catch snow on his tongue.

Anyways, Sherrard looks good. Terrel Smith is still just so undersized. Also, it's interesting that Jered Bell wasn't dressed, when he was earlier in the Spring

Like that they don't have them in the bubble on that kind of day. Agree that Smith is undersized, but also like that G. Brown has made these guys aware of the incoming DBs. You work a lot harder when your job is on the line.

The play I keep visualizing when you say that is the one where manke got dragged about 10yards into the endzone. He hit the TE/WR up around the shoulders and got taken for a ride. A low wrap up would have at least slowed him down enough for help to arrive.

Oh Patrick Mahnke...

Quick is not the word I would use to describe Mahnke. :smile2:

He seemed quick enough to be a safety lol, but he graduated so it doesnt really matter.

I agree with Tini, Harrington and Henderson could be a killer tandem back their at safety, and with CB's we have coming in there is a chance we see an immediate difference in the secondary. I would not count on them in clutch moments because they would be freshman but they will at least look the part back their, vs our hodgepodge secondary from last year.

Polk anyone?!

Henderson will be at cornerback/nickel. Polk will be at safety with either Orms or Harrington (it would appear). From the videos, I would not write off Moten locking down a starting corner spot either. We have a lot of talent coming in at CB, but they will still have to earn it.

Dammit, I am dying for Polk to kill it this year, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I can only hope some of the dline recruits can meet the expectations we have for their classmates at DB.

Polk will kill it this year. The only problem will be it will have already stepped out of bounds.

Polk had a few OOB hits last year, but ffs the Pac12 refs throw a flag if you are near the sideline. Only some of the hits would have been flagged in a lot of the other BCS conferences.

Polk needs to have an all-conference season for us this year. All the tools are there.

Polk's family sits in front of me at church all the time. One day I'll grow the balls to talk to them. Polk Sr. is a bad looking mofo.

I'm disappointed that they haven't spoken to you. I assume you're wearing Buff gear to church, right?

We are going to have some quality competition at CB. We have Yuri and Crowley coming in, Moten reportedly coming on, Harrington coming of his RS year, and reportedly Bell was ahead of Henderson last year before he got hurt coming back. I thought Henderson played very well last year in trying conditions. It makes sense to work him some at nickel considering that we are going to be facing some teams that are very talented in multiple WR sets.

Bell's the forgotten man right now.

I've heard he's behind schedule with getting back to 100%. Dude can play, though. It dramatically changes our depth chart if he gets himself into the mix.

It seems as thought people are forgetting Hendersen. He had a pretty decent year for being a true freshman and having no help what so ever. Are people writing him off just because he is smaller or anticipating his move to Nickel?

I'm not writing him off. He was one of the only bright lights on that defense last year. He was durable, and mostly effective. I expect him to start at a corner spot.

I don't have that impression. I've heard good things about him improving a lot from last season.

If it's quiet about Henderson, it's for 2 reasons:

1. Coaches not talking him up because they want him to stay hungry.
2. He's one of the few known entities for fans. Not a position to worry about and not a guy we expect to be an All-American this year.

:this:

Dude is solid. He's gotta fight to keep his job, but man, if the guys who are coming in move him over to nickel... that is good news.

I don't write him off at all, I expect him to be on the field a lot. I would expect though that the coaches are going to ask him to be more versitile than most of the other CBs because he is the most experienced and seems to be a fast learner.

I say we move polk back to were he belongs. Were he was recruited. A running back.

Guh. Keep thinking I need to rock the Buff polo(s) to church. And keep hoping they notice the gigantic CU outline on my car.
