SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah basketballprogram's facelift continued Tuesday with confirmation that Javon Dawson, Chris Hines, George Matthews and Kareem Storey have been granted release from their scholarships.
"We really want to thank these young men for all of their efforts here at Utah in their commitment to basketball, academics and our community," Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak said in a released statement. "They are fantastic people and we wish them nothing but the best in their future endeavors."
The Utes, who went 6-25 last season, are now without six scholarship players from their inaugural Pac-12 team. Anthony Odunsi was granted a release last month and Blake Wilkinson is departing in May for an LDS Church mission to Riverside, Calif.

I think it's probably addition by subtraction.

They needed to blow this thing up.

Washburn, Martin and Farr will form a core senior group for them and they'll need to find 5 or 6 guys to go with them. It's a big rebuilding project.

When you're 6-25, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. This is a 5 year rebuilding project if there ever was one.

Wonder if they are all on track with academics or if this could lead to other issues from a scholarship standpoint.

Sure sounds a bit soupy though, no?

I don't know. But they've had so many people leave over the past few years that I have to assume they're going to be at serious APR risk.

But truthfuly what would their risk be? I am not very educated on the APR, but I thought it has most to do with post season play, and scholarships. Seems like they arent going to any post season play anytime soon. although Scholarships kinda suck
