Embree Post-Scrimmage Interview Audio (4/5)

If the D is learning proper tackling technique I would be ecstatic. Throwing your body as hard as you can may result in more highlights, but it also usually results in bigger plays for the offense

I like the fact that several layers of DII have been stripped, they don't have to address 'the culture' issue as much and can talk football instead of attitude. Embo is right, football should have a lot of fun associated with it. It's a game. He doesn't sound as pissed off as he did last year. Stay the course. The ship is headed in the right direction.

Thanks for sharing Nik. Rep!

From the sound of it, our new TE commit was there (Embo made sure he noticed all the plays for the TE)

So, what is your impression of Embree based on his interviews? I can't help but to like his style. I wonder how that translates to players and recruits?

He's a confident, fun-loving guy who is hypercompetitive. Demands respect. Real straight shooter.

I would have loved playing for him.

he's got that "it" factor when he speaks. The same type of thing that you feel when listening to other good coaches. Makes me want to go to battle with him, and he wasnt even trying to be motivating. I would imagine with most recruits they eat it up, they love it, but I also bet it rubs some of them the wrong way. He doesnt sugar coat things and some top recruits arent used to that. I think Embo is gonna be here a while, and I think we are all going to be happy we have him.

Can we get anything from the fact that the offense is moving the ball? Or do we assume the defensive line is so weak that it's just easy for the O?

I am choosing the positive angle. Unless I am mistaken, I recall the offense having a difficult time moving the ball in the spring last year. And we know the defense was not exactly fantastic. Seems like a good thing to me that we are making first downs.

With Pericak out yesterday, I'd be in panic mode if the offense hadn't moved the ball well.

(He was getting that bar incident cleared by the Boulder court - dismissed, according to AZ.)

If it was dismissed, does that help our standing in the Fulmer Cup? You simply cannot ignore stuff like that.

Awesome. Does that mean no suspension/missed games?

Nice catch. I heard him yell something to the effect of "Did you see that Tight End Mitch?" - Mitch Parson was at practice. Nice. I was hoping that Mitch was an NFL scout and that Kasa has been doing so well that scouts are coming here to watch him! I'll take that "he had a good day after struggling to catch the ball" as welcome assurance at this point.

Thanks. I thought it was an interesting little sound bite in there. I also took it as a good sign that he asked Mitch if he was coming back up and he said yes.

Sounds like we should see a vastly improved defense this year. Embo gets it, it starts with Defense and Quarterback play.
