Article from January:

The day he was set to return to Boulder after winter break, Austin Vincent was informed that he was being suspended for the spring semester by the CU Office of Judicial Affairs.

Vincent averaged 20.4 yards per catch as a senior at DeSoto High.
The freshman wide receiver has appealed the ruling due to some unreported elements, but even if overturned it is simply too late in the game to get back into classes for the semester and to maintain the progress towards his degree and to retain eligibility for the 2012 season.

While Vincent is extremely disappointed with the situation, he is acknowledging his own mistakes and looking forward, rather than dwelling on the negative.

The 2011 recruit from DeSoto, Texas, has enrolled at Cisco College in central Texas, about two hours west of the Dallas Metroplex. Vincent will be taking classes to stay on his eligibility track.

The plan is for Vincent to complete spring courses at Cisco and return to Boulder this summer to work with his CU teammates and re-enroll at CU in the fall.

Vincent wanted to pass along this message: "Hopefully I return really soon. I just want the Buff fans to know that I am moving forward through this rough time in my life."

I sent him a tweet. From his response, it sounds positive.

So, if Vincent does well in his classes at Cisco, will he be eligible for this year? Does he need to take summer classes? Gone until 2013?

He should be eligible. The plan was to take classes at Cisco that would transfer in and keep him on the eligibility track, then come back for summer 7on7s. I guess he could pick up a class or 3 at CU this summer, if necessary. He was only suspended from the university for the spring semester. (And based on the whispers at the burrito stand, the punishment was overly harsh.)

tweet away, but adam on rivals reports that embree said vincent will not be back.

we have to hope we have other guys who can step up.

Embree said as much in his post-practice comments.

Paul Richardson, Gerald Thomas, Nelson Spruce, Jeff Thomas, Bryce Bobo, Devin Ross, Elijah Dunston, and Austin Vincent. All of a sudden our WR core is decent amount less ******.

At least we are getting guys who WANT to be a Buff.

Seems like a fair trade for losing Payton. We keep a scholly and get back a 2 star WR.

A 2* with offers from Arizona, Arkansas (under Petrino, notorious talent spotter), Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, and Utah. Pretty sure that's more BCS offers than any commit we have this cycle.
