Renewing season tix... CSU game price!?!?!

So my renewal of season tickets is $85 for all games except for the CSU game which is a screaming great deal!

Then they want to charge $55 for a ticket to the CSU game? WTF? Why does this game cost so much more and why do they separate these on the breakdown when you still have to buy them? Really wish they gave the option to not get the CSU tickets.
 
Well after 3 tries to renew online and them all failing I say screw it. I like the letter from Mike saying he trusts the online renewal will save time and be user friendly.
 
It pisses me off too. Last year all I wanted was season tickets, no CSU game. When the system kept adding the CSU game on when I tried to pay I got so effing mad I called and yelled at the ticket rep for forcing me into a bait and switch. Poor guy obviously couldn't do anything, but I got so fed up I didn't buy season tickets and just got tickets to each individual game.

It's stupid, but I have to imagine that they realize no one will go if they allow season tickets to be purchased without the CSU game.

Still, I'd rather they just roll it all into one cost rather than tempt me with one price only to slap on >$50 when I try and pay.

Yeah, and that is why they do it. I don't think there would be too many people there if they didnt scam you into buying it. They really should just bundle it then so you dont even see the price. Very frustrating!

The thing that should tick most people off is that they put all the season ticket holders up on the top level. I actually like sitting up higher as you can see a bit more like that but the whole thing is just done wrong.
 
Usually you have to offer a product of greater value in order to charge a higher price. Because the game is at Mile High, I actually place much lower value on going to the CSU game than I do attending the Sacramento State game at Folsom. I plan on emailing Mike Bohn to let him know that. I paid, even upgraded because I don't want to roast in the sun like I did 2 years ago, but it doesn't mean I'm happy about it. In fact, I haven't heard a single CU fan say that this is a game for which they think it's reasonable to pay a premium.
 
This is just a bad deal all the way around for CU. I cannot believe MB went along with this. He is either the WORST negotiator, or he got strong armed into it by some political concern.....I am not going to the RMS. Period.

I called and talked to the ticket lady that answered the phone. The online system is horrible. You would think you could just enter your two #ers they give you and put your credit card in and it would work. Anyway, the lady in the ticket office said they were getting a lot of negative feedback about the CSU game and I contributed mine and asked her to please run it up to her superiors to which she said she would. She did say that the higher price for that game was because it is not their stadium and they cant set the prices.

I wouldn't mind going to Mile High instead of Fort Collins but after last year's experience, I would much rather see the game in Boulder for years when we are the home team. Or at least until the crowds require it, keep it in Folsom!

It wouldnt be so bad if they actually decorated the stadium up and brought some college atmosphere to it. At least have our logos on the field and around the stadium. Last year it just felt like we we were in the Broncos facility and just borrowing it for a few hours.
 
My suspicion is that the AD puts the CSU game in there as a separate line-item charge precisely so the fans get pissed off about it. That will only bode well when the renegotiation of the contract comes up, and all the political pressure starts coming in. All the AD has to do at that point is send a letter out to the season-ticket holders saying something along the lines of "we know you don't like this game, but we're getting pressure from the state house/senate/whatever to continue the series. Please contact your representative (here's a list) and let them know how you really feel about it." Also quietly release the names of the office-holders who are putting the most pressure on, so the most rabid of the fanbase can pile on those guys. Any political "pressure" to get a deal done would quickly dissipate.

Along those lines, it would be nice if we could find who in Denver was pushing this nonsense last time, and let the hate mail commence...
 
I think they should bundle the CSU ticket price into the package and subsequently line list it as "Free" to season ticket holders.

Accomplishes two things:

1. Shuts up the whiners
2. Establishes the "true" value of the game to fans and politicians.

I don't mind a renegotiation, but I think the terms need to be more along the lines of 2 to 1 home and away with lambs to be played over a 5-7 year time frame to allow for other front range opponents. If CSU balks, CU walks.

There is a better way to, as you say, shut up the whiners. The organizers could demand that the event provides the highest quality of entertainment value possible.

I'm not sure being subjected to homeland security swat training qualifies as a genuine top drawer sports outing experience.

The sad part is that a portion of that CSU ticket price subsidizes the security measures that are being provided.
