I love that we're even building depth at LS. That will be 3 on the roster. Overlooked position where an injury could kill a season if there aren't capable backups.

Welcome to the Buffs, Trevor!

1st Team All-Conference as a long snapper this year. http://www.columbinecourier.com/content/all-conference-football-teams

Here's his recruiting profile: http://profiles.berecruited.com/athletes/athletics/1321304

Kohl's Football ranked Trevor as its #64 Snapper in the nation for this year and had the following to say:

Trevor has good snap velocity but needs to improve on overall accuracy. His snaps have good ball rotation and his speeds are consistent. Has good straight away speed and pretty good upper body strength for his size. Is a snapper that would benefit competing for LS role in a spread scheme.

thats the biggest part quite frankly... it shows embree's nfl pedigree and that he is 100% on the ball this is an intelligent move

Profile of a LS has changed since they outlawed putting a rusher over center on kicks. It used to be that your LS had to be able to get the snap off then immediately take on a middle rusher. Because of this the LS needed to be a bigger guy who wouldn't get bowled over easily, usually he was a guy who had been a center, a TE, or a LB.

With the rule changes you can have a smaller guy and since he doesn't have a man over his head he will often have a clearer shot to get downfield in punt coverage. In this case being a 180-190lb. ex-CB may be an advantage.

A good long snapper can move on and play in the NFL for 15+ years.

If anyone can get Trevor ready for the big time it's coach Embree. Welcome to the Buffs young man!

A 180 lb LS? Sorry I'm just not seeing it. Ryan Iverson already got blown up multiple times last year for being too small
