All-Colorado selection after a monster sophomore season (nearly 2,000 total yards and over 30 total TDs) in helping Valor to the state title. Could be the top overall player in the state for the 2014 class. Given the family ties to Stanford and his older brother signing with Duke, expect academics to play a big role in his final choice.

Impossible for us to compete academically with those schools....

He is probably a pretty smart kid and looks like the kind of athlete we want on the Buffs so I would be happy if he came to Boulder.

On the other hand because of his fathers name playing in Colorado might be a little hard for him. To carry expectations just because your dad was a Bronco is something that some kids just don't want to have to deal with. It is easier to play at a school that isn't in the same area that the dad was famous in.

If he has the academics to go to Stanford, Duke, ? and doesn't want to deal with being know primarily as Eddie Mac's kid then I wouldn't hold it against him if he went to one of those schools.

I will refrain from the comments I made in his brothers thread that resulted in a trip to the island. However I believe that this guys should be a stellar athlete and we would do well to get him in here.

Too early to offer. He is goood. But recruiting is a year to year thing . We have to factor in class size, roster needs, how many written offers we can send to recruits per recruiting period. We still have to worry about the 2013 class, we may land one or two great athletes this cycle. I don't think it is a good idea to offer a player in the 2014 class right now, unless he is really special, am not saying he is not good, he may develop into a special player, the guy is still a sophmore. I just don't think he is special enough right now to get an offer.

Christian's a player.

He is not getting much buzz nationally at the moment, but I am guessing that changes in a big way by November/December. Could end up being a "he's either playing for us or against us" situation.

I coached against this kid in several sports as I have a 2014 kid. I think he is D1 but I would be surprised if he considers the Buffs. I assume a private academic institution would be in play. Stanford, Duke, NW, ND......

Have heard we already offered and he has 10+ offers already. But he hasn't reported anything yet. Adam should give him a call and find out

Christian's going to be a big-time player. It's pretty amazing that these are Sophomore highlights, since he seems to be the fastest player on the field and, physically, looks pretty mature. I really like his feet too; he can make those subtle moves at full-speed, making the safeties miss without breaking stride. Add in the versatility of an RB with good hands (LOVED that wheel route, where he looked really natural with the over-the-shoulder grab) and he could be a difference-maker on offense. My only concern is that he outgrows RB, but if he ends up at 6'1 or even 6'2", he may be OK. Any taller than that, and he may have to move to WR, where I think he'd really excel, too.

I'm really trying not to get too excited about this one, but IF we keep him in-state, I think he instantly becomes EB's best RB recruit to date.

IIRC, his mom used to take plenty of shots at CU in some article a few years back. I can't remember if it was in the Mile High sports magazine or something else.

I don't remember context.

I do know that with Embo & Ed being friends (and the spouses likely knowing each other), it makes it very comfortable for the McCaffrey's to have a son stay in-state and play for Embo.

I like our chances if we look good this upcoming season. Isn't the RB from Columbine (sorry, can't remember his name) also graduating in 2014 though? Would we take both?

Gonna be hard to beat out Stanford, IMO. I'm sure Ed is making a push for the trees.

I assume Stanford will be the main threat until proven otherwise. However, I think he does have legit interest in CU. I think we have been recruiting him as long as anyone and he has taken several trips to Boulder.

Saw him play a little today. He's a good player, should be about 220 when all is said and done. He looks around 200 already.

Talked yesterday to someone pretty close and I'd advise CU fans that the Buffs will not be in the running.
