Ranking the coaching jobs: Pac-12

Wow, what a horrible list (done by ESPN so I guess no one should be surprised)...

ESPN

8. Colorado: The Buffaloes compete in a conference that consists of West Coast schools. It just doesn’t fit with the rest. Sure, you can get lucky and grab a top-50 recruit or two, but the program lacks the constant stream of West Coast talent that its league’s superiors possess. A new practice facility should be a draw for prospects, and Tad Boyle has done a nice job on the recruiting trail so far. And last season’s Pac-12 tournament title and NCAA appearances could be a boost, too. Still, competing for the league’s title each year could be an ongoing challenge.

Right now, that's fair.

It's not like I would have called Arizona a great job when Lute was entering his 3rd year there.

The trolls are also out in force:

Unfortunately I have. It's extremely cold in the winter and very hot in the summer. Terrible weather for a Pac 12 school.

No tradition, poor academics, it's Colorado

Forbes? lol. Check US News. It's a couple spots ahead of Oregon. Colorado is fortunate to even be that highly ranked - mostly due to its endowment. Colorado has the highest acceptance rate in the Pac 12, not including ASU (which is a glorified community college).

Must be another inbred hick from Colorado. Great academics? lol. Colorado needs to form its own conference with Utah, Utah State, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho.

9. Colorado- fan support, easy academics

I don't see how we are behind USC.

Payscale and recruiting grounds. If we both needed to replace coaches for some reason next year, USC would likely be able to attract a higher profile HC than we would.

Patience, grasshopper.

I completely ignore the comments at ESPN no matter what they refer to. 90% of the people are like you were when you first showed up here (and I think that's the board you'd been posting on before finding AB).
It was, someone over there on a CU board actually linked me here after something happening in the AD. ESPN is the worst site for talk that I've been to.

who is that asshole who gave you that link... we need to kill him... as for the story i would flip the buffs and usc and thats about right

That sounds like it came from a disgruntled Big 12 employee, frankly.

I don't see what good it does to get worked up over this stuff. Tad keeps doing what he is doing, and the respect will come. We know Colorado isn't hickville like Nebraska. We know Colorado has glorious summers and glorious winters. We know that Colorado is a great academic institution. And we also know that Colorado has great incoming talent and an excellent coach.

You will be far happier if you don't get offended by these articles.

All those disparaging quotes from a person who calls itself "Fishnet?"

I vomited when I read it. Then I checked NCAA tourney appearances since 1990:

UA: 21
UCLA: 19
Stanford: 14
California: 12
USC: 9
UW: 8
UO: 6
CU: 3

I then realized it may not be that far off..

I'm quoting this because some people need to read it a second time. It's that good of a post.

Apparently you guys dont understand the premise of this article, if anything USC is a better job than Stanford and should be ranked higher:

- no academic standards to pass
- plenty of money
- good facilities
- strong recruiting grounds

The only real downside is that you are a distant second to football.

USC has put major talent into the NBA over the past decade.

USC *should* have a terrific basketall program. Frankly, USC should dominate the Pac 12 in just about every sport. They have a lot of advantages we can only dream of - well heeled alumni, big market with a ton of talent in their own backyard, power conference, history, tradition, and money. Lots and lots of money. I think I read somewhere that the USC football program is completely endowed.
