I posted this on my board a while back. The results were cool. Hoping you hippies can respond to an honest question in similar fashion.

Anything. Any commentary and any rationale. You may also go outside the box and post honorable mentions. I don't give a sh*t. You're all going into my thesis on the CU fan. Say, you have a lot of red bars under your name. What gives?

i wasn't a cu fan until my freshman year in 04 so my list is probably a lot different than most...gotta go with dizon, speedy, and jimmy smith

Daniel Graham

Matt Russell

Andre Gurode

Honorable mention- Rashan Salam, Chad Brown, Alfred Williams, Chris Naeole, and Darian Hagan.

If Allbuffs is a poker table, he's not sure who the fish is.

Only 3?

It's hard to go against Hagan (never lost a Big 8 game at QB), Bieniemy (greatest RB in CU history and leader of title team) and Alfred Williams (best defensive player in the Big 8 during his era).

But, man, there have been so many.

I'd almost rather go by position for this and pick favorite guys at each spot.

Tough question.

Deon Figures, Al Williams, Chris Naole

Honorable mention Darian Hagan, Joel Steed, Ted Johnson and best name to have in the game J. J. Flannigan.

Darian Hagan, the magic man. The late pitch to JJ Flanigan was a beuat as was his pitch over the outstretched hands of a defender at the goal line, I forget the opponent. NOBODY ran the option like DH.

Chris Naeole, big nasty OL, nearly killed Ellen.

Mike Moschetti, as gutsy as they come....

1. Rodney Stewart
-He came in as the huge underdog coming in as we also signed the #1 RB in the country that year so obviously the #1 RB was expected to be the star, well the tides turned and Rodney Stewart came to be one of the lone stars during a horrible stretch for CU football and an overall great Buff.

2. Lawrence Vickers
-

3. Chris Brown
-Had a huge hand in dismantling the NUb dynasty in the 2001 game and they have never recovered and that will win my heart anytime.

Trying to keep it to players I can remember watching.

I have to mention Daniel Graham. Tight Ends don't get enough love and he was as good of a college TE as there's ever been.

Would be my honorable mention as well. As good of a guy off the field as he was a TE.

Bobby Purify. I still think he was the best RB on that 2001 team. Too bad injuries limited throughout his career. Dan Graham. Just... bad ass.

And my fav of all time... DIZON. My mom was the doc that delivered him. He was from my island. HE KILLED FOOLS.

(edit - Thorpe is honorable mention) John Thorpe!!! Lived across from me Frosh year. nice guy. Best part of some bad teams.

1. Michael Lewis 2. Jayshon Sykes 3. Ben Kelly.

So many other awesome players...Jimmy Smith, Dizon, JJ Billingsly, Mason Crosby, Rabid Goldfish, Brandon Drumm, Matt McChesney, Jeremy Blooooooom, Lawrence Vickers, Vilami Maumau, and of course Kordell and Salaam.

Daniel Graham is probably the coolest player I have ever met. Quin Sypniewski is also cool. Big imposing dude but good guy to talk to,intelligent.

I was also a big Michael Westbrook fan.

And if I can compartmentalize and forget everything after college, I loved Rae Carruth when he was here.

Matt Russell and Jordon Dizon should get some love at LB. Not the same level of player as some of our other all-time LBs, but Bad Thad Washington was the man.

Jeff Campbell WR - scrawny, undersized kid from Vail who had a little speed and a huge heart. An often overlooked key component of our greatest teams.

Darian Hagan QB - undersized (might this be my theme?) inner city kid given an opportunity to play major college football. Had a knack of making "that big play" when it looked like there was no way.

Alfred Williams LB - one of the definitely not undersized "H Boys" (along with Kanavis McGee). A terror on the field and an infectious smile and laugh off of it.

Other favorites for random reasons -
- John Hessler QB
- Jeremy Bloom KR
- Mason Crosby K
- Scotty McKnight WR
- Darrin Chiaverini WR

Sounds like we might have been at school around the same time.

The skill position have been getting a lot of attention, so I'll go with some nasties.

Matt Russell
Ted Johnson
Andre Gourd

But if this summer really drags on, we'll have to follow Nik's suggestion and generate all time favorite lists by position.

1. RB Lawrence Vickers - straight nasty
2. RB Speedy Stewart - small size, all heart.

3. Byron 'The Whizzer' White - All-American RB, Supreme Court Justice of the United States, Native Coloradan.

On a side note, the AD needs to do a better job of promoting/branding the Whizzer as a relic of the University.

Matt Russell
Michael Westbrook
Brandon Drumm

Hannibal Navies and Chris Hudson would be pretty high up there as well.

My board started as top 3 for a page or two followed by "f*ck you flukes...can't do only 3" so feel to post whatever you want but if you can't limit it to 3, I understand. This is a post that revolves around pride in your school and those who honored your program for various reasons. Still, I'd like to think that posters can justify their reasons for the rankings of their choices. So, whatever you post, make it count and provide some commentary please...

I have to mention Daniel Graham. Tight Ends don't get enough love and he was as good of a college TE as there's ever been.

True. He was a beast. I remember him having the softest hands when he played for us and knowing that he'd be a first round draft pick.

Ray Carruth, that guy was amazing to watch in his days here. 4.29 40. I would Kill to have a burner like that now.

Brandon Drumm, how could you not respect the Alaskan Assasin. Hell of a Full Back.

Lawrence Vickers, probably the most under utilized players in my opinion but loved the attitude he brought.

Daniel Graham is probably the coolest player I have ever met. Quin Sypniewski is also cool. Big imposing dude but good guy to talk to,intelligent.

Can't argue with that. I still remember during I think the 2005 CSU game when Quinn got a stinger and was down for a couple of minutes. Then when he stood up with his helmet off he turned around at pointed at a CSU player basically saying "you're dead meat!" He was pretty damn intimidating. Loved guys like that in our program.

There are so many from the time I was there. One of my all time favs is Mike Pritchard. I saw him step in for EB in the Pigskin Classic against TN and run for like 300 yards. Dude could flat out fly and catch the Rock. Also loved Darian and cannot forget a great o-linemane like Jay Leeuwenberg.
