Worst AD decision

What do you think the worst AD decision has been in the past 5 years? Keeping Hawk around another year has to be #1, but what would you say would follow it.

Oh, and you can list your own. While this is a poll it isn't limited to what is up there.

I'm getting sick of the AD.

Edit: Damn forgot to make a poll.

Here's the list I was going to create.

1) 2 for 1 with UMass
2) Whoring out to tOSU (this one I could at least understand)
3) Whoring out to UM
4) Letting the MAC dictate to us that we'll play Toledo on Friday, when Miami of Ohio was supposed to be on our schedule. [Was this a 1-for-1?!?!]
5) Not getting out of the Cal game last year when we already had a full slate
6) Plati counting only 200 people at the blue-out (this is for sacky )
7) 1 for 1 with Fresno St. They aren't FSU of the early 00s (then again, neither are we), but we can't dictate 2 for 1s now with non-BCS teams? ****, we've fallen far.

that was gawd aweful.

Probably just in general being TV's bitch

This is true. It seemed like we used to have a lot more night games than we used to. Now all of our kickoffs are at noon or 8am (****ing RMS).

Edit: We were on that ****** FCS feed last year for a lot of games, including the Cal game. FFS, 1980s tech. My iphone can at least record in HD. Thank God for Sam Steele.

1. HaLk Extension.
2. Patton Lame Duck year.
3. CSU Exension (length is why it is worse).
4. Toledo
5. Keeping Cal & adding tOSU (basically throwing a rookie HC to the wolves).
6. UM decision.

I'd put the Toledo game second after keeping Hawk too long. Another one I'd put up there is canceling the home-and-home with LSU. The game at OSU didn't bother me because we needed the money after the conference switch and I like us playing OOC games against big name opponents.

#1 All things Hawkins. From the extension to keeping him another year.
#2 The Patton basketball fiasco.
#3 Extending the CSU game and keeping it in Denver even when we are the home team.
#4 Toledo
#5 UMass

Every time there is a review of Bohn it becomes clear that he is pretty clueless when it comes to dealing with coaching issues and regarding scheduling he can't say NO to any offer that teams make to play and he is too much of a pussie to fight for CU's best interests.

Technically, the Fresno State series actually was a 2-for-1 when the original contract was signed. Not sure what happened to the 2011 game that was supposed to be in Boulder though.

my memory does not serve me well here. what is the problem with the umass game 2fer1?

i am not getting the problem with this one....

keeping d2dan an extra year was a mortal sin. that's why we are in the hole we are in as deep as we are.

As far as the worst, extending Hawkins and then keeping him an extra year are far and away the two worst moves of the last five years. Extending the RMS in Denver for 10 years was also very bad. The other stuff is certainly not good, but can at least be forgiven.

They just moved up to D1 FBS. I wonder if it's difficult to schedule 1-fer games--unless we are the patsy--in FBS now. Even the Nubs and Tejas are playing away in 2 for 1s (see Wyo). It's not a big deal to me, but I can see how it would be frustrating for some. At least in a 2 for 1 with FSU and Hawai'i seems more legit.

Now I wonder why we didn't play FSU last year.

And that's where I'm wondering what everyone is thinking. To me, in the here and now some of the items I've listed (among what others have said) are forgivable. However, in the aggregate it's starting to make us look like we are the fat, ugly 50 year old prom queen. Seems like the AD doesn't have any pride. Then again, given where we are perhaps some of us have too much.

I think giving McConnell Miller an extension after getting the women into the WNIT could be considered another brain fart by Bohn

#1 is clearly keeping DII for an extra year...set CU back for along time.
#2 extending DII too soon.
#3 One off at UM
#4 keeping the RMS in Denver
#5 Toledo and the four day turnaround

MB is a yes man manager. He has been tasked to: (1) run a clean program (admirable goal btw); (2) keep all the different campus groups happy (impossible and not how you build a consistent winner IMO); and, (3) balance the AD budget. Winning is maybe fourth on the list, at best. MB either doesn't have the juice/support to build it the way say, Stanford or Cal are trying to do it, or he's just happy with his role outlined above, I don't know which. JMO.

This was part of getting the political support within the state legislature to rubber stamp our Pac-10 move and not Bohn's decision.

surprisingly well thought out and correct.

Pretty sure Fresno is a 2-for-1 with our 2nd home date as yet unscheduled (?). Keeping Hawk was inexcuseable, Toledo was a money thing (Miami OH paid a penalty, we got extra $ for ESPN) when we needed money really badly. I don't mind the tough road games (OSU, MICH) if we win them. I don't mind the CSU games (except for the venue) because we need wins and early-season tests. UMass deal is fine.

The venue is the whole problem though...

I really don't mind the 2 for 1 with UMass. It's a "winnable" road game and it's in the East . Would I prefer it be UVA? Yeah. But making an attempt to connect with fans in the East isn't something I can complain about.

+1

I'll also add that keeping Plati around is looking more and more like a gigantic mistake.

Anything that has to do with negotiations. Bohn sucks ass at that and regularly gives up more than he gets.
