Jordan Murphy - Walk On FB (Scholarship?)

Saw this being discussed on Rivals and didn't see anything here. But it sounds like former CSU FB Jordan Murphy is walking on at CU this year[/URL]. He also gives the impression that he'll be on scholarship next year. Anyone know anything about this?

“I’m on the team. I’m part of the 105-man roster for the fall,” Murphy said. “I’m a preferred walk-on this year, but once I’m eligible, the coaches said they’ll give me a scholarship as soon as I step on the field.
“It’s a really good opportunity. It’s a blessing from God.”

Murphy is required to sit out this fall due to NCAA transfer regulations.

With our lack of scholarships for next year, that would surprise me, but you never know. Anyone know anything about the kid?

Not much info on this kid but an extra fullback or LB would be great. That reminds me of Larsen Spencer for the Broncos who could play both positions. Sounds like more of a special teams type of player.

Didn't he start in 19 games for CSU last season.

Didn't sound to pleased with his transfer during his (supposed) goodbye post on Ramnation

Wait, is this one of the supposed 40+ returning starters that CSU was going to bring to bear against CU this year?

Bizarro Spencer Larsen?

I'm not sure if we need another FB on scholly, or one that was a walk-on (and let go) in Fort Fun.

Im sure JE will save the scholly if he doesnt pan out this year in practice. We should cross our fingers that he turns out to be the next Owen Marecic though.

No putting him on scholarship? It happens all the time to walk-ons. Its a nature of the beast.

If what he says is accurate, he will be going on scholarship next year. That does not make much sense.

I think he said he'd get a scholarship as soon as he saw the field. Embree's making him earn it beyond just showing up, it seems.

That is exactly what I read-if he isn't that good, he will never see the field and stay on scout team and not earn a scholarship. So he has to be good enough to earn a spot on special teams or backup FB. We are not necessarily 3-4 deep at that position. Powell is going to be a BAD*** but he can't play every play.

I still think Clay is going to end up going back to defense.

Maybe true, but we do not really need to be 3-4 deep at FB either. If we have more than a couple FBs on scholarship at any one time, it is probably overkill.

He went to Lutheran (Parker) High School. Played against him in basketball and he is jacked and extremely quick (compared to me). Kids that played for our football team hated playing against him. He definitely didn't play d1 competition in high school though. Nice kid, hopefully he pans out. Can't see him being better than Powell or Norgard at FB, might become a good linebacker though.

My impression is the same as some others here. What Embree promised him was a fair chance to compete. If he becomes a starter or at least a significant part of the depth chart he gets the scholly. If not he had his shot and can decide to stick around and pay for it himself or leave the team. The significant part is that he will be part of the 105 roster. That means he will be with the team through all organized practices and activities instead of having to wait for the date closer to the season when the guys who have little to no shot of ever seeing the field in a game can come in.

If he will ever play enough to get a scholly is unlikely but it seems like Embree told him he would get a reasonable shot. For a lot of guys that is all they can ask for.

Lol CU picking up CSU's leftovers and CSU stealing recruits from CU. You guys must be pretty mad.

Also he wasn't a "19 game" starter for CSU. He played sparingly on kick offs as a true frosh last year. Got I think 8 tackles. But hey, I wouldn't expect you fluff fans to get your facts straight

When have facts got in the way of you saying anything on here?

Holy hell, bro. You are as dumb as the rest of the leftovers that didn't get into CU and chose CSU by default. I highly doubt we see you around after September 1st. Also, check this out:

Well according to that CSU is ranked higher than half the BCS schools and higher than Syracuse.

I'll take it. uMAD?

0% chance he ever earns a scholarship. No way we have 3 scholarship underclassmen fullbacks.
