Ranking 2013 NBA Prospects

I'll be in a small minority, but I tend to agree with this ranking for right now. Dre still has a lot to prove at the college level. Looking forward to it.

I can see him skyrocketing if he comes out with some improved handles and consistent shooting from outside the paint

Except it isn't a ranking of college accomplishments; it's a ranking of NBA prospects. If the NBA Draft was about college accomplishments, Meyers Leonard wouldn't be going in the lottery while Draymond Green and Robbie Hummel go in the 2nd round.

Thanks. You're totally right - Dre developing his outside game this upcoming year would do nothing to raise his stock.

You're trying too hard.

I think the you are right. He has to develop his offense, especially creating his own shot away from the basket ... and his ball handling. But if he does that, he is a legit first rounder, but still maybe not a lottery pick due to his size for the position that he will play (small forward) in the NBA .

His free-throw shooting has to get better, with an offensive game as limited as Dre's at the moment he cant be shooting mid 60%'s from the line. If he can work on his 3pt jump shot (which he has been this summer) and get his charity stripe numbers up around 80% he'll be in good shape.

Rebounding machines that play solid defense go in the first round regardless of offensive ability. NBA has lots of scorers but is short on dedicated rebounders. If his rebounding numbers are as good as last year he will be a first round pick IMO. Would love to see him in purple and gold playing down low with D. Howard.

Of course it would raise his stock. But "proving himself in the college game" is not something that is all that relevant to a ranking of NBA prospects. Plenty of players prove themselves at the college level and go undrafted or late in the second round because it isn't really all that important.

put is this way Nor Cal Buff. What happens if dre gets the same numbers this year as he did last year and shows no improvement in his outside game. Is he still a top 10 pick? I don't think he will. go take look at Perry Jones. He was a top 5 pick potential in 2011, stays another year, has similar stats in 2012 to 2011 and drops to the 20s in the 1st round.

I have no idea what dre would have gone if he left this year, but as much as I love watching the kid play, I don't think he is top 10 in the draft. I don't even know what position he is going to play in the NBA because he should be a 3, but doesn't have the outside game for it right now.

Agree with what you are saying.

I love Dre as a college player but for the pros he looks like a guy who has power forward skills in a small forwards body. He showed a lot of improvement last year doing some slashing to the basket and showing progress on an outside shot when left open. He still isn't as developed as he needs to be with either of those but the progress he made is a good start.

If he can show this season that he can hit an outside shot consistently against a defender and that he can effectively drive to the hole his stock should jump. With the big men Tad brought in he should also get more opportunity to show what he can do defensively against small forwards which will also answer some questions for the scouts.

Agree with all of this ^^^. That is the lowest projection for him I have seen by at least 20 spots. If he is projected at 42 it is a moot point, he won't go to the NBA if he isn't getting guaranteed 1st Rd money.
