What's the cliff notes version of the article? Stupid San Jose paper is blocked here at work.

DirecTV looks good, Pac12Network (main channel) will be on basic tier in Denver, sports or digital tier outside of footprint. However, looks like only one Pac12 channel per area (still confusing).

Dish looks bad.

There has been some confusion about the level of service in various geographic areas. Think of the situation in terms of zones:
Zone 1 (home markets) will have the Pac12Net on a basic tier.
Zone 2 (within the league’s footprint) will have the Pac12Net on a digital tier, which can be more expensive than basic.
Zone 3 (outside the footprint) will have the Pac12Net on a sports tier.
Portland and Denver count as Zone 1, but San Diego and Sacramento are Zone 2 … Las Vegas is Zone 3.

“Pac-12 Encore” is a series on the top-10 games from the 2011 season, while “Pac-12 Classics” will feature a memorable victory for each team. The “Classics” series will include Oregon over Arizona ’09, USC over Cal ’04, Colorado over Notre Dame ’91, Arizona State over Nebraska ’96 and Cal over Stanford ’82 (The Play).

I wonder how that first part translates to Directv for us Zone 2 people. They don't really have a "digital tier", and most of their packages are the same in all locations. Will it be in a basic package in the zone 1 cities but only on the sports tier in zone 2 cities? Is that kind of how they handle channels like Altitude? I've got the sports tier, so I'm really not sure what channels you got on more basic tiers....
