The way they wrap it all up in a pretty little box and show it all edited is horrible. Maybe they could get away with it in 1992 and even in Atlanta in 96 but with the internet and every other media outlet scooping NBC on their own story, this is disgusting!

Show the stuff live, when it happens on at least one of your 50 channels that usually show Judge Judy re-runs. Show it on the internet for free. Don't require some stupid password so I can prove I am getting ripped off by some cable company. Yeah, I have the password somewhere but not with me at work, nor do I feel like looking for it.

If you still want to show all the highlights in prime time in a pretty presentation, and play them off as actual live coverage, that is great, please do! I am sure many will still watch it, but when you already know who won, what is the point?

So when does Shark Week start?

they do then show the events live(either online or the regular channels) and then rebroadcast in prime time...

NBC shows the games, I go to their website the other night to watch the opening ceremonies while at work, and they require some password. I am at work, I don't carry my account # around with me to work. If I were at home I would watch it there.

I am just sad about what it has come to in this day and age with all the technology we have, they make it so difficult to follow the freaking Olympics.

Really, I am almost over the whole thing, and am getting to the point where I don't even care to watch it because of all this BS. Used to love the Olympics, but oh well, the wife wants to watch Bachelor Pad anyway.

then write down your password

other than the basketball (which is being shown live) I really can't get into any of the Olympics right now. ****ing tape delay, Bob Costas and Ryan Seacrest suck off, and jumping from one tape performance to another is just ****ing annoying.

Feel free to watch Bachelor Pad. If you really can't understand that they're not going to pay a billion dollars to show an event, then give it away for free on their website to people too cheap to subscribe to the companies that pay them for their broadcast, you probably aren't going to understand the events anyway...

I gotta agree. I have the olympics on three channels: NBC, MSNBC and Bravo. Yesterday they had womens bicycling, because volleyball and tennis. I kept flipping through the channels during the day and they never had anything I wanted to see. No men's basketball, no medal round swimming. Since this **** is edited anyway, I wish NBC would post the time they were showing events because the way they are doing it now is not working.

It's not the Olympics themselves that suck, it's NBC's coverage of them that sucks. Just show the damm events live. The World Cup, major golf tournaments, and the NCAA tournament are all shown live during the day, there's absolutely no reason that the Olympics shouldn't be on live.

this is like the third or fourth thread TimBuff has started whining about not getting some sort of service for free. quit being so ****ing cheap, or get a better job.

Thanks, Teets....you are turning this thread around....there is potential here.

Most cars actually burn more gas at 75mph than 65mph. It's all starting to make sense.

Inexplicably got into the US women's gymnastics last night... not something I would normally watch, but they get your heartstrings going with the backstories of the girls, and how they are all competing against each other, but for each other as well... the girl in tears at the end (Jordyn Weiber), who was favored to win the gold but got edged out at the end by a teammate.. tough to watch, and NBC was right there with a camera in her face as her dreams came to an end.

NBC coverage on TV does suck. I have to give them props for broadcasting EVERYTHING online though. Though I am a bit confused on what they are picking to show on TV during the day. Bravo has Tennis right now, MSNBC has basketball, NBC sports has horses. Not sure what channel 9 has on right now. And online I am watching No1 USA vs No2 Brazil in a very good volleyball match. Not on TV?!??! Weird choices.

Fencing for Gold is starting right now, that should be fun to watch. (Doubt it will be on TV). And I will watch some weightlifting at noon. I will wait and just watch the Gymnastics and Swimming at primetime on TV. I agree the TV coverage sucks but I have to give them problems when it comes to online streaming. It is every match and the quality is great. You can even watch past matches if you missed something.

If I understand correctly, Bravo is pretty much dedicated for tennis coverage, MSNBC for basketball and CNBC for boxing. I wonder if they aren't holding the volleyball match for later on one of the networks?

One thing about saying they should show everything live is that you literally can't show everything live on TV. At least not without offering a few dozen channels. But I do wish they'd show the big stuff (swimming finals, for example) live. They can come back and show them again in prime time for the people who aren't home during the day...

Also, I don't know if it is a time zone thing or not, but they didn't show the 4 by 100 men's relay last night until 10:30. That seems pretty late.

The prime time slot goes from 7-11 here. I think they hold back a couple big events for that last hour in order to keep people watching. I was driving home from Denver and didn't get home until the coverage had been going for a while, so I wasn't sure if they had shown that race earlier and were maybe just rebroadcasting it that late. Probably not...

TimBuff will be happy to know I just got the live stream up and going. Took me at last 45 seconds. Such an unnecessary inconvenience! (Of course if I had to deal with cable installers, it actually might be...)

And I believe, on Comcast they created at least one new channel dedicated to the Olympics. One is just for basketball (channel 895 where I live).

I don't know what TimBuff is complaining about. I can't keep up with everything there is so much coverage!

I don't understand why London doesn't postpone the good events until 2AM their time so we can watch them live.

The swimming in Beijing was at that time and yet NBC deemed the mountain and pacific time zones not worthy of live coverage.

How is it free? I am paying $150 a month for cable and I have to watch ads during any live sporting event. If anything, NBC is double dipping in my wallet making money off of me from the cable company and commercial time they are selling.
