Surprised it took the media this long...Stupid Kids.

Well, am not surprised another incident involving boulder police. It is a good warning to the student athletes and most students in Boulder be careful when dealing with Boulder PD.

BTW did they find a gun in the cars ?, what about an apology from Boulder PD for pointing guns at innocent people.

I've seen the X5 driving around the Dal Ward and it is a pretty old model. I'm not sure about the A6.

One nice thing about sucking so bad is that I don't think any boosters are providing those rides.

Maybe one of the kids parents has money.

They found an airsoft pistol that was indistinguishable from a real pistol until it was dismantled. Don't blame the police at all. Doing their jobs. Kids need to think when using fake weapons that look like real ones. especially in this state, this area, this time. To close to the Aurora shooting. They should know better than to point guns at eachother while driving through boulder.

Mind you, "This is Boulder and you have your guns out?" is a great line

You never cease to amaze me. AirSoft guns look virtually identical to real guns. Would you prefer if the police did not respond to reports of people driving down the street waiving guns?

Yeah. Plus 10 year old German cars can be bought pretty cheap. That is about when **** goes wrong and people get rid of them instead of paying the ridiculous costs to repair them.

Blasphemy! Things go wrong with German cars?

I don't really have a problem with any party in this situation except for the players who were back talking to police. That isn't the proper way to handle the situation.

Have lost confidence in law enforcement. Good warning to students, be very careful.

You're off base here buddy. Does this look fake to you?

Besides the thing on the bottom it looks real. The police did their job. The player have to be smarter than this.

Embree is going to tear them a new one for this.

Please show me where I said an airsoft gun looked real or fake. I don't know the full details about what happened, the truth sometimes can be distorted. All I know is based on my own personal experience with boulder PD, I have little confidence in Boulder PD and it is good warning for students to focus on their studies, always go out in packs, and be very careful how you deal with Boulder PD.

What do you think the Boulder police did wrong in this situation? I've had bad situations with police numerous times. (Mainly DPD) I also question why anyone would want to ever be a cop but I also understand their importance. If I see a group of young men pointing guns at each other the cops are going to be called.

It was foolish to wave a gun (fake or not) out of a car, particularly with other people around who don't know it's fake. It was also a mistake to be belligerent towards the cops if the article is accurate and Thornton was cursing at them. That said, was it really necessary to have that much back up? Surely five extra cop cars would have done the trick. Why ten? Hopefully nothing more will come of this and it won't become a larger story.

EDIT: it was 9 total cops, not 10 cars. I mis-read. Assuming two cops per car, that's 5 cars. Still a little heavy handed, but seems reasonable considering the reports of a gun.

Good job to the BPD...it was stupid to be pointing airsoft guns at each other when they look real without that bright orange tip or whatever to signify that it was fake.

Of course it's not the proper way to handle the situation, but I can be relatively sure that the police probably did nothing to deescalate the situation and probably actively made it worse. Anyone who has had any interaction with the Boulder PD knows that they are disrespectful and combative towards those they are supposed to protect and serve.

in the light its fairly easy because of the knob at the bottom, but in the dark... I cannot fault the cops for being cautious.

But they have 10 cops on the scene and are pointing their guns at innocent people who were presumably not brandishing a weapon as it was found on the back seat of the car.

I was pilled over in Boulder a few years ago by a motorcycle cop. Two cruisers pulled up behind him a few minutes later.

I think the Boulder police are just bored.

yeah I was just being dumb, they look very similar and if you are just driving by and you glance and see that, you are going to think it is a real gun. Unless it looks like this or says nerf on the side, I would probably assume the same thing, but I would yell "go buffs" first and would call the cops unless they responded "go buffs"
