From the BG Brooks article:

"Stout" might be too gentle a term for the young foursome, but for now it will do. That quartet helped the defense leave with an upper hand in the camp's first full-contact nine-on-seven drill, marking the second consecutive day that the defense has impressed with its physicality.

These guys are wide loads, especially Tupou (6-3, 325) and Solis (6-3, 305). And Hennington (6-3, 285) and Rasmussen (6-4, 280) aren't fingerlings.

awesome. i yearn for the day it's 3rd and 16 and i don't expect the worst. getting some pressure on that QB and also not letting a draw kill us will definitely help ease those fears.

In his pre-practice secondary meeting, Brown set his No. 1 left corner for Friday afternoon's practice with a rock-paper-scissors exercise involving freshmen Kenneth Crawley and Yuri Wright. Crawley's rock smashed Wright's scissors, meaning he got the opening chance on Friday.

Now that's coaching.

I can't wait to see how these guys are doing as juniors and they have had a couple years under this staff and the S & C program.

Maybe the o-line is bad again. seems last year at this time we heard about obi killing it.

This is what I hate about camp reports. No one can do well without causing me to worry that our guys on the other side aren't getting it done.

Someone gets 2 interceptions? Woohoo! We've got a playmaker at corner. Oh, wait. Maybe it means our QB sucks or our WR is unable to get open. It's torture.

LOL! So true!! Can't wait til they make Lambchops!!

Obi is on an NFL roster.

Took Obi a year to overcome the outstanding coaching he recieved before the current staff got here.

It's amazing to think that Obi is in an NFL camp but didn't get to play, that Tyler Hansen is in an NFL camp but kept getting pulled in favor of the coaches midget son, that Tony Clemons could get drafted but only have the opportunity to catch 43 balls and 3 TDs as a jr.

What I wonder is how the clown managed to win so many games in Boise.

Or that we had 2 nfl starting CBs on the team and couldnt defend the pass? Or had two drafted O-linemen on one side of the line and had to resort to a scat-back to get yardage?

Ramussen is already 280? What the hell has that man been eating? That is if its correct, I thought Solis was more like 6'1" as well.

Because McKnight and Richardson were better options for the second half of that season.

Richardson I agree with, kids a special talent. Scotty got an NFL look as well and could do some things out of the slot in college but there were games where the genious from Boise took TClem out of the game. He was on the field but they weren't going to go to him and the defense knew it. He was a weapon and was a weapon that basically went unused.

A part of that was the fact that the insistence on playing Cody took away a lot of the downfield game.

Iam sure they are better, but it scares me to think that in the 1st week they have the upper hand on a veteran o-line.

Cody threw a much better deep ball than Tyler and looked for it a lot more too. The deep ball (and recognizing when it would be there pre-snap) was probably the worst part of Tyler's game.

Don't discount it simply being simple schemes. i.e. - going slow for the new guys. With simple schemes the D will have the upper hand and will almost always look better early on in camp. That will change over a couple more weeks as the 1s are getting established and it's game week...

The d better be ahead of the o right now. Even when we had heisman candidates on O, the d still slapped us around until the middle of the second week in camp. If the o was running over the d at this point I'd be very afraid.

Thanks for educating folks on this.

Offense is about guys being in sync and also having enough of the playbook in to counter it when the defense starts jumping certain plays (defense always cheats in practice if they can get away with it).

That said, I still think our defense is going to need to lead the way at least for the first half of the season.

Seeing that a starting QB has not been named and the WR position is just as much of a mystery, it may take a while for the O to gel.

Patience is the operative word.
